Dashboard sounds like a load of old sweetie wrappers!

What exactly do they do in order to fix the issues - is it a matter of fitting further insulation (don't know how else to name) or replace the interior parts?

Sounds you got an interesting job :)

Yeah, if it's two mating parts rubbing together, then the easy fix is application of "silent" tape. It's basically an adhesive fabric strip.

If it's more serious & the silent tape won't work, then modifications to the parts are made.

I did have an interesting job until I was made redundant about 5 weeks ago! Fortunately, I have found a similar job now.

Mine was the same when new. I removed the binnacle surround and put a bit of insulation tape around all the fixing clips and added two small rubber buffers between the surround and the clear perspex over the instruments. Thankfully this has cured it,as it was driving me potty.

In general though ,my car has (had) more dash rattles than the one I test drove, which felt completely solid.Spent an hour one afternoon pulling all the removable panels off the dash and tightening up every nut and torx screw I could find. Strangley everything on the right hand side was pretty tight, but the left side was all slightly slack including the two torx scews in the n/s/f door trim(inside the handle) which was also moving around a bit.Done about 1500 miles since the tightening session and non of the rattles/squeaks have returned - all is as it should be now.

As you can tell I hate squeaks and rattles.

Can you do that on my car please lol? :(

Well my visit back at the dealer this morning seems to of been painless.

My dash rattle appears to of gone... the service desk said that the instrument pod was moved a bit to get a tighter fit.

I also had a bit of water leaking at the front bumper and a seal to the headlamp washer is going to get replaced.

As well as those issues I had noticed a bit of the rubber seal around the passenger front door was cut so I am getting a new one of those fitted.

I should get the replacement bits fitted next week and also some packing material added to the dash to prevent any further rattles.

All in all a pleasant experience really. Derek Slacks perhaps do deserve 'Best Skoda dealer in the UK' award after all.

Packing material added to the dash? Im lucky I even got my car looked at when I went to my local skoda garage....

Nothing yet apart from the pull parcel shelf will rattle a bit over harsh bumps but that's it. If I get any I'll do what I did in the last car and turn the music up!

Great result re:binnacle!! Hoping to do the same tomorrow :)

  • 1 year later...

Old thread I know, buyI have the same squeaky rattle as the op. Sadly the dealer not being so helpful, can anyone advise how to gt the trim panel off surrounding the dash so I can try to fix it

Squeaky dash cluster thing seems to be a really common thing on these fabias. My '08 one had it, my Dads '60 estate has it and current '62 courtesy car has it.

I have the same thing. I just press the plastic screen in the bottom left and it goes away. Not worth a trip to the dealers.
