Average MPG in the time you've owned your Fabia vRS...

Featured Replies

Standard Car - 4000 miles - average 48.1 mpg - generally topped up between 300 and 450 miles

45.9 49.9 42.8 48.0 47.8 48.3 46.5

- from this point on only ultimate diesel was used

50.3 52.2 46.4 49.5

Some of these were longer trips and the engine's loosening up, hence I'm not yet convinced that ultimate makes any significant consumption benefit - or any benefit at all - to warrant the appprox 7p/l price premium...

Best individual trip was a journey from home in north Gloucester, through Gloucester, onto the M5 and M4 and down into central Bath - approx 50 miles - trip computer showed 63.8

However bear in mind that the trip computer consistently overreads by between 2.0 and 4.0 mpg

Well based on your figures, 1000 miles using Ultimate would cost around

got my standard vrs up to 53.5 for the first 500 and a bit miles. 400 been on the motorway though!

saw 60.6 on the way home tonight too :) ! I quite enjoy trying to get it higher, bit sad i know!!

40

38 :(

Had my Furby for 12 months and 13500K of happy motoring. I'm averaging 48.2 at the moment and it seems to be going up all the time. This is also with lots of stop/start driving. The car has no mods at the moment to the engine so when it gets chipped I will get back to everyone.

Had mine for 1 week and 1000 miles  later, I've averaged 49.8. Thats a mix of grannying it for the first 600 then clouting it everywhere after that  .

Someone told me an interesting fact the other day:

'You only need to run your car in if you intend to keep it after the warranty expires'

You can see his point though!

Cheers

38 :(

How many miles on the clock?

Mine wouldnt budge past 38, but recently (and a couple of 1000 miles) it wont budge from 40 :)

44 (25k miles)

Mine seems to get between 48 and 58 depending on what sort of driving i am doing i have to work VERY hard to get below 50. I often cruise at close to a ton and get 55 out of it. It is fitted with a "black box" from vw performance deisel. ever since the mpg has been considerably higher than before and also spins front wheels in second as well. is this perfection?

No, it's the false reading you get after fitting tuning boxes :P

Well known that they over-read your fuel economy. Get the calculator out at your next fill up, and see how many miles you have covered for the fuel you've used. You can bet it will be less than what the fuel computer's telling you. It's how they work, by faking the amount of fuel the engine needs.

Currenly done about 11k miles in 12 months.

Between 45 and 50mpg depending on traffic

I've only managed one very short journey over 60mpg so far, but I've only got 4k on the clock. I can't wait for it to loosen up so I can do 69mph on the motorway (wouldn't want to break any laws now would I???) and see it return 50+, because it certainly won't do that at the moment. Mid 40's at best even with the cruise set :(

Before remap I was gettin about 46-48 now with remap I'm getting between 42-45mpg.

19k on the clock with too much time of that spent stuck in traffic!

On my 25 mile trip to work (non Motorway) I get between 52 and 58 mpg. On a recent trip from Southport to Bromley (263 miles) I got 59.5 with an average speed of about 63 MPH and I wasn't hanging about

I have stucka post somewhaere detailing mine. But the other day over 200 miles averaged 66.2mpg :)

my last 2500 mile average is about 53mpg. cars got 17.8k on the clock.

i wouldn't trust your computer too much, the best way is to brim the tank then run until nearly empty. then divide the gallons put in into the mileage for an accurate test. try to use the same pump to insure the level is the same. i averaged about 45 mpg using this method but thats mainly town driving. Tom.

have only done 440 miles ish, but the aver is by brim tank 43.9, computer is say 45, so thinks thats good at the momnet but then again still new!!!!!!! :)

Now I know you are all going to think I am sad, but there is an excuse....

Been averaging 56.3 over the last thousand miles ( car has done 9079 i got it at 7888). My excuse is that I get the differential noise mentionned by 'Aerofurb' and I want the dealer to investigate this. Vrs's are quite young and I had a Polo whose gearbox had differential noise and the gearbox packed up - not cheap at

My average MPG is 38 on a JBS Remapped car.

Although I drove to Harrogate the other day to buy my new wheels and averaged 54 on the way up the M1!

Driving style can be a factor - if you never rev your engine higher up the range, allsorts of deposits will be left behind, which will over time reduce the efficiency. Giving it a bit of a 'trashing' every once in a while therefore probably improves your overall MPG.

:D
