Clima Display Values

Featured Replies

Greetings to you all.....

Excuse my English but i am from Greece. I have an Octavia 1.8T 4x4 chiped by ABT. I have notiecd that by pressing 3 keys at the same time at "clima" (Fun Down - cold - Econ) , then some numbers appears in the Clima Screen on the left is the value and at the right the position.....the positions change when pressing the cold or warm button (blue-red)....... I have managed to understand that number 2 display is the interior temperature and number 16 the car's speed but i cant find anything for the rest 58 positions . Any help ?

I think the answer to that is: No. There are a number of sites which list the codes for specific versions of the Audi and Passat, but no-one has come up with a decode list for the Octavia as yet. And I haven't seen anyone mention yet that if you set the Climatronic to display

Denis, yes it does change the speed readout from kmh to mph and vice versa. I use that when I go to the continent, mainly so I don't get nicked for speeding.

I'm in the process of comparing the VAGCOM block readings to the diagnostic readings on climate control. When done I'll post it up.

Got a lot of free time there?

Popped this one up to check whether anyone has found the correct Climatronic codes list for the Octavia - and how to get "inside" in the first place! Is Fast@Safe's method (see above) correct?

Fast@Safe is absolutely correct as you will see from what I have written previously:

To get to the Climatronic Diagnostic Display press the following Climatronic buttons together:

Fan speed down + Cold (blue) + ECON

Repeatedly pressing the Red and Blue buttons will cycle the display through the channels available

Press ECON to return the display to normal

Thanks, Denis.

Tried my hand at channel 16 today and found out that my speedo is grossly optimistic - some 10 kph of optimism actually.

50 kph on the Climatronic is 58 on the speedo

70 kph on the Climatronic is 79 on the speedo

100 kph on the Climatronic equates to 110 on the speedo

(These are some common Dutch speed limits, so quite useful for me to know my real speed at these speeds!)

I see a pattern, yes, but there is no fixed percentage to the deviation. Does this look familiar to any of you?

It certainly does, Mattijs! My speedo overreads significantly - not much under 10%, in fact. grumpy.gif

I'm getting confused here, guys!

Tried some other speeds this morning on my way to work:

150 kph reads out as 135 (so 10%, just as at 110/100)

but:

170 kph reads out as... 149?! - which means the percentage deviation is rising again!

Now which of the two parts - speedometer or VAG electronics - is utter crap?

Can't bear to think of what will happen when I go to Germany to test my top speed, which is at < 230 kph, with 240 as the highest number on the speedometer scale...

My speedo and clima control were both inaccurate according to my GPS. The speedo had a fairly predictable optimistic curve, almost linear, but the clima was persistently low. My car has 225x45x17 tyres on vs the standard 205?x55?x16 so some speedo error is inevitable. Most manufacturers make speedos optimistic deliberately - it's harder for the owner to get into trouble with the law if they think they're going faster than they really are. My speedo error was about 6-8%. I don't know where the clima gets its data from. As I pointed out in the last thread on this subject, this also means my trip computer's fuel consumption figures are inaccurate.

A previous thread about the Climatronic and speedo error is here. In my experience errors in the speedo reading or Climatronic speed readout do not necessarily mean that the mileometer is similarly inaccurate. My Octavia's mileometer is accurate to within 1%, unlike the speedo........... :)

Guys, I stumbled onto a very interesting piece of information - finally a reasonably complete list of Climatronic codes, produced by the German Skoda site skodafreunde.de (Skoda Friends):

http://www.skodafreunde.de/hilfen/steuercodes.pdf

And don't worry, I will set about translating it...

That's even better! The channels start on page 2.

Okay, I'll do a few:

1 Interior temp

2 Sun intensity (delayed)

3 Sun intensity

[beats me what that is for...]

4 Exterior temp (delayed)

5 Exterior temp on bumpers

[on bumpers?]

6 Exterior temp Inlet channel

7 Blow temp footwell

8 Blow temp [MAS?]

Okay, I give up ;)

I'll try to cherry pick from here...

45 Engine temp

64 Exterior temp (filtered)

66 Rev count @ 10 revs/min

Oh dear, I'd better put these forward to some more knowledgeable German speakers...

Used google and came up with this

1 interior temperature

That's what I call a result! Its good to have this information at long last. :D:cool:

What we need now is a trilingual copywriter with a good working knowledge of the Octavia in particular, and of automotive technical terms, to provide us with a definitive translation of the Climatronic codes.......wink.gif

I suppose that's me :D

Or worse, should be me... :(

:stupid:

:D
