thanks for the links for the interior bulbs m8

ive got a problem with them, the new leds just stay on dimmed slightly, the boot and map lights.

the map lights actually dim the festoon and door lights oddly until i remove them

Sounds like you need resistors mate.

LEDs require a lot less power for them to work. Meaning the slightest current will turn them on. Couldn't help you on what type of resistors though sorry! I don't have the problem on mine.

Decided to tackle the side strips yesterday. Pig of a job! It's an endurance test for sure, and expect no dexterity in your fingers for a while.

I tackled them with hairdryer and guitar string. Using a guitar string like a cheese wire:

This method meant there's no stress on potentially weak paint. Once you've cut the adhesive the strips just fall off.

15 minutes and a few wire cuts later:

Then I washed them, and applied AG Bug and Tar liberally:

Then broke out the toffee wheel. IMO this job is not possible without this tool.

Getting to this stage is such a relief:

Whole job took around 2 and half hours (minus breaks for the rain to stop). each side taking around an hour with the wheel to get the adhesive off.

Looks soo much better now, and so much less fiddly when coming to wax etc..

Can't wait to get at this with my polisher now!

Great job :)

Wow like the look of the car without side strips. Might do this myself at some point :-)

Good job!!

Toffee wheel took a good bashing!

Thanks guys.

Yeh transforms the side of the car. Especially with colour coded handles.

i didnt like the bumpstrips off mine when i had them painted , each to the own i guess

Fair enough. I prefer them off, the natural line in the door is enough to retain the definition, and it saves so much hassle when waxing.

More news, Santa was good to me!!

Nice :) how much was the toffee wheel and where did you pick it up? And how did ya go abOut using it? :)

About £8.50 from eBay. There's cheaper but they're not vented.

You fit it onto the end of your drill. The toffee wheel basically acts as a rubber, you press it against the pain and it rubs off the adhesive as it spins.

A few essential tips:

Make sure your paint is clean, dirt will scratch your paint

Make sure your drill is on the lowest setting, as it can burn your paint.

Make sure you keep the toffee wheel moving, so you don't generate too much heat, and burn your paint.

Thanks :)

there the same speakers ive got in mine i was very impressed with them

Awesome, good to know. Did you run them off a separate amp or headunit?

Any pics of the full car with the strips off, I have coded handles so I think I want to do this

I'll get some next week when I fit the coilovers

Forgot about this little update.

I modded my Polo under parcel shelf shelf to fit the Fabia:

It's really useful for small items that would usually roll about the boot or clutter up the cabin.

I like that, great work

Coilovers, new top mounts, Cupra bushes and powerflex front wishbone bushes all went on today! Was a long job but all done now, so so happy with the results, pics up soon.

Whilst doing it all i found a split cv boot one side, and a cheap leaky boot on the other. So gunna try and get the parts and replace them both tomorrow. Not the way I really want to spend my last day off but ah well!

really like that under parcel shelf!

What coilovers did you go for?

My original plans today were to clean the car, get the camber and tracking done then get some proper pictures up. But after After discovering one split CV boot, and one cack one, I spent the day under the car again.

Shafts out

Culprit one, split boot

Culprit two, **** boot.

And I always managed to faff something up:

Whilst fitting the new boot on the passenger side shaft, I split the end cap which protects the CV joint on the gearbox side. So I've ordered a new one, leaving the car on stilts until Thursday :dull:

My retrim is on hold as the leather didn't deliver in time, so I spent the day sorting a few bits out on the car. tweaked the ride height and had the wheels aligned, gave it a clean and took some pictures:
