Thanks,

I removed them and had them sprayed glossed black.

I've just sent a load more interior bits off for a nice subtle glossy black touch!

Some goodies arrived in the post today:

I got to work on the install also. Stripped both doors and spund deadened. It took all day to get everything out and back in again, alpine components are in but the amp isn't yet. I've bought necessary brackets to hopefully fit the amp snugly under my seat!

Can't wait to get everything plugged in. I managed to run the speaker wire alongside the existing loom from the door to car, so everything is nice and hidden, with proper cabling.

Few snaps of the sound deadening, ive done the front of the carriers also but it was dark by the time they went back on.

Few updates..

My doors are done. Carriers back on, components fitted. I added some left over sound proofing to the face of the carriers also:

Cables are run through existing looms into the car, nice and neat!

I've also run the power cable from the engine bay into the cabin. I went in through the passenger footwell by the rear wiper fluid pipe. Had to drill a hole as I'm using 4 gauge wire so it's pretty thick.

I've managed to attach my amp the under side of my seat, really hyped on this as it means I can keep things nice an OEM in the boot.

The brackets are a little ghetto, but due to the lack of space I had to bend them whilst fitted otherwise I wouldn't have got them on!

All bits used are nylon threaded so it's all secure as hell.

Here's the clearance under seat, loads!

And the great thing is, I still have enough space to have an under seat storage box!

I'm having another full day at it tomorrow, so I'll have all the carpet up to run all the cables. So if all goes to plan I'll have the speakers running by the end of the day.

Picking up some of the sprayed bits tomorrow evening also, so I'll be able to fit my door cards finally (they've been off for 2 weeks).

That just leaves my custom fibre glass sub box, which I'll strt working on soon.

I now have sound! Got a fair bit done yesterday.

I pulled all the Interior out, ran all the wires under the carpet and re-fitted.

I shielded all wires where they meet to fit the amp, to avoid any potential interference.

I found nice ground point under the seat also.

The speakers sound amazing, the sound deadening was such a good move. I haven't a box for the sub so not fitted that at the mo.

My line out adaptor has enabled me to run two separate RCAs, one sub one speakers. This separates the two, I have speakers on the front channel, and sub on the rear, meaning I tweak the fader volume to get the perfect mix!

Still to do:

Remove drivers carrier and lock mech to refit door pin.

Sound proof boot

Make fibre glass sub box and for sub

Refit doorcards

So hyped on finishing this project off. My custom arm rest cover comes back tomorrow also!

looking good that.

only issues is that amp being upside down with the heat coming out of it

looking good tho

Cooling fins are located on the side so should fine.

Looks good, coming along nicely.

How much does that sound deadening weigh? Much?

  • Author

Much indeed, two packs is a hefty weight! I'll weigh what I have left and do the maths

How do you remove the air vents ? Ta

Credit card and gently pry them out starting in the corners.

Use an old card, as it's likely to split!

Not had a proper read through but looking really well, nice work on the sound install so far, look forward to seeing the rest come together.

Just a quick question, what sound deadening have you used?I'm after doing my own doors and been looking at different makes so far?

Armrest looks good mate! ;)

They fit nicely and look good dont they!? Looking forward to seeing the lid in leather aswell.

Thanks mate. I used 2mm silent coat. You can get a good deal on the stuff, and double it up where necessary to become 4mm. I double layered the bare metal of the doors, and used 2mm on the face of the carriers and awkward spots.

Thanks mate! Yeh fits extremely well! Thanks for the fitting tips. B)

Thanks mate.

I like a LOT^

So did you send it off to SS for covering?

  • Author

Yep, another fantastic job from the guys at seat surgeons!

Looks ace, def one of my favourite Fabias on here.

Minted Pm me cost? Also on a scale of 1-10 how much has sound deadening quietened the car?

  • Author

Couldn't rate car noise just yet as I'm still knocking about with no door cards, they'll go back on sometime next week so I'll report then.

It makes speakers sound soooo much nicer. There's no rattle what so ever on full volume.

Looks ace, def one of my favourite Fabias on here.

Thanks mate! Not even halfway there yet B)

do you think its necessacery to remove the silver internal panel aswell like you done or would under the door card be enough. might buy an 40 pack and do under the wheel arch liners to try reduce road noise even more

Yeh I think it would be pointless if you didn't remove the carriers. There's so much bare metal back there and the back of the speaker woofer points directly into it all.

Small update. Here's one of the painted items I've managed to get back in

ec4f429f.jpg

More pictures to follow when everything is back in an the interior is clean.

All is on hold until I've worked out a way of rebuilding the interior door handles, which were stripped apart for painting.
