I wont be happy if i cant get low 13s.

When i did the test day at Santa pod where we were trying to find the points where the DSG cuts the power i was consistently getting 14.0 but that was with 2.6-2.8 60 ft times which are diabolically slow and some pretty harsh DSG power cuts. It should be around 2 seconds, maybe 2.2 at the very most.

I'll have better suspension, less weight and sticky tyres next time, and more power.

From what I gather 270hp is easily achievable but they expect more, so maybe an even quicker time is possible, its all dependent on traction and the launch. Once its going and without any DSG intervention, its unbelievably fast on the full boost map.

Alot of ifs involved though.

Good to hear the cars should be getting low 13's once they're all stage 3.

I'm starting to save up for it, because I think that it'll probably cost a fair whack to do, and im not keen on going stage 2, when I can just jump to 3 and use the saved money from the map etc on something else like water meth installation.... and I want the top spot at my local car club. The fastest under 1600 turbo is currently a Civic del sol sitting on a 13.27 It's been there since the start of the year and I want to top it haha! I'm currently 4th.

As for the starts you should be making 2s with the new tyres etc if I can do it with the tuning box so I guess it just needs the right tyres, some light alloys and fairly low pressures...

What kind of things are you doing for weight shedding? I was looking at removing the under tray but I dont know if it would be really worth it as I doubt it weights all that much.

Front passenger seats and a light weight battery are all I can really think of at the moment for race days

So because he dosnt know the exact capacity of the engine he simply cant have done any work himself?

Nice to see yet another very helpful post from you george :)

Whats with you? wind your neck in, just asking!

So todays most recent purchase to add to the list

impp-1205-16-o+AEM-4-channel-wideband-UEGO-series-2-EMS+okada-project-plasma-direct-coil-packs.jpg

With this engine being so prone to misfires, and the car running at a potential 90-100hp more than stock ive bit the bullet and bought some OKADA Coil packs.

This should with any luck ensure misfires are kept to an absolute minimum if not completely eliminated, and make for a more reliable and efficient engine.

latest update appears to be along the lines of my car comes back from Skoda today or tomorrow after having the new piston rings installed.

APR Calibrators are coming over next week to finalise the map, which with these high output coilpacks should be straight forward. Then VWR have the car for a fortnight for the brakes and coilovers ready for me to pick her up early september.

Have you seen the review over on Mk5 re these. They dont add agreat deal to the 2.0TFSi engine, so it would be interesting if some test were done on the 1.4TSI engine as a comparison. I bet your missus dispairs sometimes with the cost lol. I know mine does, as I purchased a very expensive mountain bike yesterday. So to keep her quiet I bought her one too lol

As i said on there even before he did the test, i couldn't see there being any difference on the TFSi because even at Stage 3 and 4 levels of tune there is no issue with the spark.

the 1.4TSi has misfire issues even at stock levels of tune. When they turn the boost up on mine misfires become more prevalent, thus is limiting the output because for obvious reasons they wont just turn it up and accept the misfires.

So whilst they might not give a direct power gain as a standalone modification, i think it will allow them to map my car to give more power, and it will make it run more efficiently,

having a much stronger spark means we can open up the spark plug gap alot more without it being blown out and then get a cleaner burn, which should make things run better.

Its all theoretical at this point, but i think the liklihood is it can only make it better on this engine.

well leading on from my child seat thread i started earlier in the month, it looks like ill be selling up before my car is complete.

Looks like ill have an absolute raft of modifications up for sale.

anyone up for becoming a LOBA/APR developement car and a load of cheap mods to go with it?

****e! What happened? I was really hoping to see some results :(

Shame, I was hoping to run the Citygo against you next year at a show or two.

2 live with me plus the dog . Plus part of me has always regretted selling my octavia tbh

shame to hear you wont be able to finally finish it off but i guess needs must!

I hear inside Sy's head..."What to modify on the Octavia...... "

Been and done it once, i know what id rather do this time.

Engine Mods:K04 turbo, 3" downpipe, S3 Injectors, standard intake, standard cat back for an easy 310-320Hp(Just like a stage 2 Ed30) and its cheaper than going stage 2+ on the k03.

Chassis mods: Bilstein B12 kit, TT lower arms, NQSBBK, ARBs, engine mounts and that is it.

it wont be extreme. Although if Daves vRS goes back up for sale, id probably buy it straight off him.

On a side note, the coilovers and brakes are sorted i think, so ill probably sneak in a couple trackdays between now and Christmas before i sell it.

Thinking of Cadwell park on the 12th when i get back to the UK next month

Might have brokered a deal with the wife to keep this car and get an estate Octavia. Although there might be a substantial change on the plans for this car, and it might include less power than is currently planned in order to keep her off my back.

oh and my latest purchase, to secure the deal with the wife so she cant change her mind lol

Always nice to have a sensible car and a toy. :)

Is that for the wheels or brakes...or both! I think when you pump too much power into a car, you lose its character and you probably would be happier with less power. The Furby Mk2 is cracking car as standard. If it was me, I'd refit the standard turbocharger, Intercooler and air box. Then just run a stage 2 map on it and be done. I know when I fitted intakes etc to mine. I took all the aftermarket parts off apart from the SFS boost hoses, BCS exhaust and autotech HPFP and love the way it drives now.

  • Author

Fair one. Its just the brakes.

Intake might or might not go, undecided tbh but there is no way i would have this car without an intercooler though.

right update time:

The car is finished in Skoda UK now. It went in because it was apparently burning oil. Skoda had it for 5 weeks whereby they travelled 160 miles to test the oil and it never burned any at all, so we have it back with new oil and an alleged new bill of health. Skoda blamed a mixture of oils which caused blowby and misfires!!! not sure how they come to that conclusion though!

The exhaust is being fitted this week along with the OKADA coiplacks, the AST suspension should be fitted next week, all things going as planned.

I should be collecting the car with a tweaked version of the Beta test map that i had before. APR have cured the issue with the DSG limpmodes, which were caused by boost spikes during gearchanges. Something that occurs on DSGs because it doesn't dump the boost upon the gearchange like you get on manuals. The final output might be a little bit off yet, it depends how the next phases of development goes.

I have discussed the option of just remaining at stage 2 with the stock turbo, although all things going well ill get a 270hp car to play with.

Engine mounts and intercooler should be sorted in around a months time.

The brakes have been paid for and will be fitted when i get back to the UK in a fortnight.

pictures hopefully in the next couple weeks

Well it was originally just the brakes, but i then started wandering if i would need spacers, then thought feck it, and iv enow bought the Black TD1.2s with a full set of federal 595RS-R tyres.

this has been a very very expensive month lol
