well, my fav VW range engine is of course the 1.9 TDI, that engine was bullet proof!, i had a 1.9 TDI on 3 different octavias the first one went right up to 210,000 and could have easily doubled if not tripled that millage, only got rid of it due to the council regulations. i now have a 1.6 TDI CR superb its at 17956 Mile the now and getting a service at the start of the week as i didn't book it in till today, but don't think the newer diesels can do as many trouble free miles as the old 1.9 TDI, wish they still made it

Has anyone had there 1.9, 105 tdi superb 2 sharked, and if so was there a big improvment in MPG and power

Maxidot readings are to be ingnored, as it over-reads up to 10%

Raving on about a cars maxi-dot showing 55+mpg when all your car could be is doing is 49.5mpg is pointless, unless you've actualy verified your maxi-dot readings or perhaps even adjusted it to be accurate?

Mine over read by about 3% on my last fill-48.5 actual, 49.8 maxidot. I agree the maxidot figures need to be treated with some sceptacism as far as ultimate accuracy are concerned but if they all over estimate the mpg it is possible to draw a rough comparison?
