I give up

Featured Replies

Well that didn't last long before the mods moved my Yeti orientated post on fitting Yeti 'E' rims and trims with winter tyres to the new generic tyres forum. Wait with bated breath to see another Skoda model with 7Jx16 ET45 rims and 215/60 R16 tyres  :D

If my January 2010 tech guide on all things Yeti rims & tyres survives please look their for help;

Rather odd moving that one, was rather useful to yeti owners. Don't leave tp, I've found your posts amongst the most useful on here.

Many, many thanks for all your valued posts to the old and comfortable Yeti forum. You'll be missed. I for one will be grateful for you shared knowledge.

Great shame....thanks Tim. Hope there might be a cooling and spot of re-thinking and you might stay on when common sense prevails. The Plumbers guide to Yeti tyres/wheels should find it's way on to Wikipedia.

I'm pretty sure one of the moderation team was drunk and went power-mad. I've had a message from one of them telling me off for reporting a post. Pathetic.

Your contributions will be missed.

+1 (to all of the above)

The Plumber will not see your farewells as he has gone!!

THE PLUMBER HAS LEFT THE BUILDING FORUM

Numpties can't make up their minds! They moved my post enquiring about what snow chains might fit a yeti somewhere else, then when I wrote a perfectly reasonable post pointing out the stupidity of that decision (and I didn't call it stupid at that point, I was very polite), my reasonable post disappeared and my original post returned to its rightful place ... but this morning it's gone again. I think there is even disagreement amongst the moderators. Some seem perfectly reasonable, some are behaving like power junkies. Whatever, there's certainly a lack of collective intelligence out there. I'll hang around a little longer to see if things improve, but if not I'm packing my bags and off too. Dr. Bobdog, BSc, MA, PhD.

Many thanks for your help and guidance Tim, hopefully you will review your decision to leave the forum.

Regards

Dave

Well done to the idiots yesterday who dived into this section and behaved like the school irritant. I actually get the impression they thought they were being funny at times but they were not, just pitiful. Anyway the consequence is that this forum is going to leak both decent people and also a very strong knowledge base. I suspect a good number of contributors will disappear and their knowledge and humour go with them. This site will be poorer for it, but hey the irritants wont care. They will just go back to Octavia/Fabia/Superb land and swagger about how clever they are.

As mentioned in previous posts there is a fledgling owners forum here, http://www.yetiownersclub.co.uk members are a bit on the sparse side to say the least! I imagine when all the playground stuff dies down on here we MAY return to something like normal. Let's look forward to seeing the sparks fly when the moderators start on the other forums :smirk:

In the face dog pathetic trolling is it not for better to as the RAF say "rise above the rest"? I mean, I walking away is like giving in to the school bully.

I think I will be going quiet and waiting and will look at the other option. Matters of forum tidiness have turned into something else.

Briskoda will not be poorer for it at all, yes the Yeti SUB forum maybe poorer for it, but as many refuse to leave this section they will go totally unnoticed by many of the other members.

+!

That explains why I couldn't find any of the off topic posts in the other sections which people were complaining about. Maybe it's because I have been on BRISKODA for far longer than I have had a yeti but this all just looks like confusion about tidying up which then went nuclear when some muppets started name calling. I mean when I had octavias I was apparently a proper member of society but having bought a yeti I apparently am elitist and think fabia and octy drivers drag their knuckles on the ground and breed mainly with close relatives. The evidence for this is that I don't go to meets, never mind that I didn't go to these when I had octys.

It's childish and pathetic nonsense but some people seem incapable of doing what they would do in the offline world, ie ignore it and move on.

Ignore the trolls people and carry on. I've got no real interest in any new yeti only ghetto thanks. There is more in common among all the models than there is dividing them imho. Just as no one should classify all yeti owners as elitist snobs, nor should anyone be lumping owners of all other models into one group. The yeti anger seems directed at Octavia and furby owners but ignores superb and roomster drivers. Ie none of it makes any sense at all.

Even some of my ranting in Scottish independence thread didn't get this sort of reaction and I was sure I might get some pushback from the sassenachs :-)

Would one answer maybe be to have some yeti representation among the moderators?

I think by definition if one part of the forum is diminished then the whole is diminished. I regularly browse all sections, I have even posted in the favorit and Felicia section recently for petes sake, but the fact is my current skoda is a yeti. The information provided to me by TP, and Johann and others has been invaluable to me. In future if this sort of info were not available then yes, Briskoda would be poorer and would have failed to meet my needs the way it has done in the past.

Please can we all try to stop this childish "I'm leaving", "go on then we won't miss you" type of chat. Feelings are running high for some so adding further fuel does not help promote the interests of Briskoda or its members!

Possibly, BUT any mod should be chosen on their abilities and NOT on what they drive .... that would just be more PC crap, we have enough of that in the world without adding to it!! :dull:

Of course, I'm not suggesting that some numpty be appointed just because they have managed to buy a particular car. Some of this stushie seems to have been exacerbated by a feeling among some yeti owners that "they " don't understand us. Some plainly don't as I have seen criticism of yeti owners for not attending meets for example. If you're a young petrol head with a souped up vrs that might seem reasonable, but it shows a lack of understanding of the circumstances and interests of the people who seem to be buying yetis.

As gadgetman has said, time for a group hug.

Briskoda will not be poorer for it at all

Unfortunately, I think that just about sums up the attitude of the moderators over the last few days.

They have a thankless, unpaid, job to do, I don't envy them, but I do respect them for what they do and have to put up with

It wouldn't go amiss for others to think likewise

All this tittle tattle ain't really getting us anywhere is it.

I think this has run it's course.

Time to move on I'll close this
