sound like moon landing missions

:giggle:

Hmm, I've been comparing this car against my BMW 335i touring which is, coincidentally, covered in 'M' stickers as is the current trend.

The Skoda Fabia vRS estate has 100 litres more space in the back with the seats down; 45 litres more with the seats up. It's 6 tax classes cheaper based on C02 so a saving of £315 per year on the disc.

the fuel economy of the Skoda is 20MPG better than the Beemer, 45mpg vs 25mpg.

And according to the figures, my car is a mere 2 seconds faster to 62mph, and has a (limited) top speed 16mph faster than the Skud.

An intriguing proposition.

And the beamer probably cost £10 grand more???

For a basic one with a lawnmover engine maybe. :giggle:

Compare the cost of a decent BMW and the price difference would probably be bigger than 10k compared to the actual on the road price many people paid for a Fabia VRS estate.

id have a skoda or any other vag over a bmw any day of the week, price been one reason but they just dont tick all the boxes, especially the new 5, it just looks like a slighty over weight 3 series

A 3-series will undoubtedly be a nicer place to sit!

My sister used to have an X5 and a friend has a 06 plate 3 series, very 'clinical' place to be, not homely

They're very spec-dependant, but I know what you mean. Some specs can be really nice :)

I got my Beemer when it was 18 months old with a very unusual 5K miles on the clock. It was heavily specced I suspect it was an ex demo car. Brand new with all the options it would have been at least £47K.

I paid a smidge over half price for it. I rarely drive it to the limit as its too bloody fast. I'm addicted to taking corners at speed however as I've never had another car that feels better in the bends.

Clinical is probably an accurate description of the interior, however you learn to love the solidity of the cockpit, and the no compromise quality of the materials. God is in the details after all.

after loathing the design of my 3 series when it first arrived, I'm a true convert and I wish I could afford to remain in BMW territory, but alas, the next car in 2013 will probably be a Superb estate.

To all the Estate haters :moon:

I love my vRS Estate, prefer it to the hatch any day. It does need lowering though...

Its a good Q car, not many people realise it a vRS until its hooned past them. You could easily compare them to the Audi RS4 looks wise as i'd still have the estate over the saloon any day.

thats a brave statement!!

Why why why?!

You dont buy a vrs to be practical.

I did!

I love the fact my Octavia vRS is fast, but has five doors and a huge boot

Surely that's the whole point of a vRS? Even Skoda think so :)

hmm well each to their own!

Roomster VRS?

Well the pope's already got some fast Merc's, so perhaps he'd like one.

I got a thing for fast estates, rs6, octy vrs estate, fabia, all good imo

Sort of compares to a Volvo T5 imo.

What are you comparing the fabia?

hmm well each to their own!

The Octavia vRS is a fast family car, it ain't no performance car :giggle:

The Fabia vRS is for those that want a fast car but load carrying abilities aren't as high up their priority list.

The Fabia is also cheaper.

The estate version is a nice mix, the rapidness of the hatch with the added practicality of an estate but still in a small package, a trade-off for some is it's looks.

I'd have considered an estate vRS Octavia but it doesn't 'look' enough like a vRS. The spoiler on the hatch is essential

I do 150 miles a day so I need performance AND economy which is why I drive a diesel - it gives me just enough of both. If performace was more important we'd all be driving petrols, the Fabia vRS is now only available in petrol - that should tell you something!

Good to see good old fashioned blinkers are still in place :)
