Economy Drive

Featured Replies

Managed to beat my personal best for economy (as per computer readout) today:

Over 135 miles, including a few launches and 10 miles of stop-start traffic on m'ways & central Bristol rushhour, I hit 84.8 mpg!!

Fuel gauge barely moved!

Remap = win for economy

Well that's blown my 79.9mpg 120 mile run right out of the water in my mkI VRS.

That's still pretty damn respectable!

I thought i was doing well at 70! Well done!

Don't think I ever had more than 60

Beats my 82.4 also, boggo standard VRS but just using BP ultimate diesel

Around my area the roads are very hilly and up and down... My best is 67.5mpg over about 70 miles- was pleased I even took a picture! :p

What remap did you have to find a big difference in economy?

This is my best eco-effort. About 60 miles back from Brands Hatch one afternoon.

If the pic doesn't show up its 88.6mpg. It's wildly inaccurate but looks impressive.

I've worked it out that the computer on mine is optimistic by about 13mpg over the whole tank.

I often calculate the mpg over the whole tank and compare to the trip 2 which I zero after filling up. Mine is pretty much bang on every time!

That's some good going!

The best I've ever done is 62.8, but that was calculated from brim to brim. 70mph on c/c pretty much all the way from Lincoln to the WSM meet.

I have 2x Fabia PD100s on my fleet at work. One of them was my daily hack, the computer on that was pretty accurate.

My best is about 60 over a whole tank, brim to brim.

Number two is where it's at as number one is pants.

my tops is 67 mile run and achieved 70.2 and that was in the summer doing no more than 60!! How in gods name did you get that?? Do you recommend BP Ultimate???

Not hard to get an indicated low-90s mpg on the 1.4TDI; having the patience to keep it up for a whole tank is a bit more tricky however.

The forum on Ecomodder.com is a good place for fuel economy stuff.

I've not had the car long, only 3 months, 07, 54000 miles, 1 gentle owner but ever since I've had it I've only run it on BP ultimate, I get good MPG's and no black smoke when I boot it :-D

Really recommend it.

50 mile journey, propper Eco run, behind a lorry on the M6, just never braked or booted it

I've got picture proof but can't post as I'm on the iPad at the moment

I have used shell ultimate and found it terrible, will give the ultimate a try when I fill up next

i was happy with 62mpg using the A34 from didcot to biecester :'(

Never tried shell, read a few bad reviews, I really rate BP

Took a few full tanks to really notice any differences, mine defiantly runs smoother, is eager on acceleration and practically no smoke under heavy acceleration

Mine are both wildly inaccurate.

errrrmmm y is my best 47???cant get above that and thats driving sensible round town!! mines hybrid etc with 210hp.

Driving in town is never going to get you good MPG though.

It's only when you're going at a constant speed for a while will you get decent figures.

^ Exactly that, you`ll never get good mpg in stop start traffic, in fact, 47mpg in those conditions is very good.

My last tank using "fuel trip" on my iphone says I managed 40.0MPG exactly (lots of short trips), while the trip computer says 40.3MPG so I`m pretty pleased with that :smirk:

Ditto. My '2' computer is about +10mpg.

Well I#m hoping the higher price per litre wont matter and i will get better mpg to combat the extra penxe per litre. I will defo have to give it a try.

I set of WAY to early for a trip to Liverpool one time so I thought I would try and drive economically to see what I could get, it was a 50 mile trip and I got 92.6mpg or something like that :)
