Ok, so after rather an extensive hunt, I have finally managed to secure a full S3 brake set up. I was only wanting the fronts but the seller wasn't prepared to split, this isn't to much of an issue as I will only be fitting the fronts and selling on the rears. My question is this, should I leave the calipers black and paint the OE rears to match or paint the fronts red to match the OE rears?

Personally I would like to stick with the black as they look stealthy, but I'm not sure it will give much of an impact as the car is Black and the wheels are anthracite.

Opinions appreciated.

Just to help, below is an image of the S3 front caliper -

Keep them black imo. The s3 badge is a big enough detail on the callipers to set them off.

The clip will not be saying 'S3' when fitted though...... :p

It depends on whether you want others to know you've spent a shead load of cash on new brakes, in which case paint them red!

For the understated look leave em' black.

I voted for red by the way

Still black though :-P

Had a set of AP racing callipers on my elan in satin black. Nice and understated on a calliper. Red is cool but can't go wrong with leaving them as is.

GREEN

I voted different as I would go green with red pads. :)

Yo!! ...Harry, how it going..........Car OK?

I said paint red. Only because that's what i did ;) Keeps everything OEM looking

Maybe white, someone on the mkv forum suggested Ford ST Orange, could look funky?!

That's stage 2 money!! :wall:

I'd leave them exactly as they are, they look nice and different with the S3 clip.

What's stage 2 money mate? No matter what, the S3 clip will be changed to something more...........appropriate!

GREEN

Yeah this.

Green is Skoda's colour.

Its cash you should be saving for the stage 2 remap or aren't you getting it now?

No saving required buddy, the dp goes on next Friday and then I will be paying W8 a visit for a spot of Sharkness.....I wouldn't be getting better brakes if I wasn't going to the next stage! :p

Someting different to stand out rather than following the norm !

Silver had crossed my mind, as I have a tin of hammerite sitting in the garage.

Yeah this.

Green is Skoda's colour.

+2 Green is the only colour I'd change mine to.

Had mine powder coated red and then fitted a black golf 'r' pad retainer. Look great behind the darker wheels. How come you aren't fitting the rears?

Leave as standard, they look great as they are. Wish they would fit under my 16's!

Now then Andy.

Car is going very well thanks

And Lee, you know it's old, but good news ;)

Two reasons really, firstly I can't justify the expense for both, I only got the set as I've been looking for a while and the seller wasn't prepared to spilt. Secondly, I only plan to go to stage 2, so I think the S3 front and vRS rear will be enough. Having said that, I may be checking funds, as the idea of fitting 310mm discs on the back is rather a nice idea!

Regarding colour, still undecided, but I will probably go with red to retain the OE look, realistically the only other option would be to leave them and match the rears in black.

My good you need bigger brakes, 345mm discs, and they look lost behind your 19's. When I first saw the picture I thought it was your rear set up........

Out of interest Harry, if you are interested, there is a pair of 'R' retaining clips on eGay for good money!?
