Monte Carlo or vRS?

Featured Replies

you cant compare the two as you cant buy either of them in the others engine/gearbox configuration

looks alone arent enough reason to buy a car, well not to me anyways

myself id love the vrs with a stonking diesel but i cant have one :( and the monte's diesel just doesnt cut it for me plus those bits round the wheel arches look pants but thats just my opinion, many others love that look. be a boring drive if we all had the same cars

so the choice is, cheaper running costs/less power/several engine choices or vrs, not really a fair comparison

id prefer the monte

vRs...Dont like all that black

You really must get out 'Moor' Alan

you said you might grow a white beard Chris, then you`d be just like him :giggle:

That has made me laugh so much! I used to love that character from the fast show!

:finger:;)

the black monte is the only one that looks sporty and the onlu one i'd have, but it's too much black. white or gold wheels would be my preference

If you look at a monte I think it screams it's a nippy hatchback, when you look at the vRS you don't think so as much.

i'm assuming people are going for the monte because of the black bits, after all, the monte is basically a normal fabia underneath with lower suspension, with the same engines.

vRS for me all the time the monte looks good but it`s not for me it to much like a standard fabia the vRS looks cool with the LED`S DRL`S and it has a much sporty stance then the monty but i would like to have the monty wheels on the vRS

I still don't understand why the Monte and all the other Fabias get DRL and fog lights, (which I think look good) but the VRS can only have one or the other.

Looking at the pictures reminded me.

I pick up my all black monte on Thursday (finally!)

I thought about a Monte - the first time I saw one I assumed it was a vRS.

Think they look good, but I know if I'd bought one, I'd have ended up wishing I'd got a vRS (made this mistake when I bought a Lupo Sport - eleven months later I was trading it in for a Lupo GTi - it's been top-of-the-range or nothing since then - hence why I didn't go for an Abarth 500 - the Esseesse costs more than I'm prepared to spend).

I like the look of the Monte (black wheel arch trim aside) but its not for me. Don't see the point in driving around as a sheep in wolfs clothing if you can afford to buy and run the real thing i.e the vRS. Its like pulling up at the lights next to a chav in a pimped-up 1.0 corsa - just because you have stuck on a big exhaust and bodykit doesn't mean its still not just a 1.0 Corsa mate! lol :giggle:

I believe the original thread was meant to base opinion on looks alone. Anyone wanting the performance of a VRS is clearly not going to go for a Monte so basing opinion on performance is irrelevant. The VRS now comes with the black pack due to customer demand since the Monte went on sale but is essentially a blank canvas to which owners can customise as they see fit. I guess Skoda intended it this way. There's not a great deal you can do to the Monte to make it look sportier than it already does it's an off the shelf love or hate machine.

i got the monte because its diesel, the only thing with the vrs is the vrs badge for me,

That's right, that's the only thing... If you stick one on then you're actually better than a vRS I'd say...
