I have owned around 70 cars in the 17years ive been driving and i would say that 85% of them were heaps of junk, but they all get my vote for being good because they are the reason i have some idea of what goes on under a bonet.

Nice-(not including skodas) escort mexico mk1.

Not so nice-Triumph dolomite sprint.

BEST - 95 Honda Civic, the first 'decent' car we bought, never ever went wrong and electric everything. Just sold it to my sister-in-law.

WORST - Pug 309 , THE worst car ever. had to drive once from Brighouse to Peterboro with no water in the rad due to the biggest hole that wasn't there when we left. It was so bad we bought another one thinking that we were just unlucky. This one was a sp.edition with a sunroof and spoiler.....and was ok.....for a week, then ****e

THE ONE I LOVED - 1302 beetle, 18 ,just passed, big dreams of cal look, newquay, surfin and the beach boys. Never got out of of Peterborough!!

This is without a doubt the best car I ever owned. I bought it as an 18 year old in 1990, and still have it in a somewhat different guise!! It's a 1988 Skoda Rapid.

In 2004 I decided that it had become too structurally rusted to be safely patched up anymore. It took a lot for me to decide that, as I'd become VERY attatched to it. I owned that car through many happy times, I proposed to my wife in it, took some of my children home from the maternity hospital in it, enjoyed countless family holidays with it ,[including towing a caravan!!], and generally was a very special car. I decided that as the mechanicals were still good [despite having done 170,000 miles] I would use it as a donor to make my Bugrat kit car. This uses a spaceframe chassis, so the rotten bodyshell wasn't an issue for that. I thought that was better than throwing away the good bits and I would also have a fun beach buggy type car too.

My worst car has to be my very first one, a Datsun Cherry 100a, My Dad gave it to me for Christmas before I'd even passed my test. It used to have a squeaky wheel so everyone knew when I was coming :D

My best car? goes without saying really. I'm really going to miss Velma when she goes in March. I will just have to console myself with my brand new Fabia vrs

best car... S14 200SX... awesome bit of kit and always managed to put a grin on my face, reliable as hell even when tuned, worst... Volvo 480, munched heater matrix's for fun, clutch cable pulled through the bulkhead and had the dodgyest electrics ever... used to just cut out at 70mph on the motorway until you gave the area near the fusebox a thump..

Holy Thread Resurection Batman!! ;)

Worst owned - "The Shed"; a 1994 Renault 19.

Worst driven - V@*xh@11 C0r$@ diseasal ;) Utterly no redeeming features, not even fuel economy, given that Samantha can match it there.

Best owned - Samantha, my Octy 110TDi.

Best driven - My mate's Sierra Cosworth, which had the personal plate GUS 151T.

Most affectionate memories - My Citroen ZX, which I still miss sometimes, 6.5 years after rolling it into a ball on the A82.

Least affectionate memories - The Shed (qv); I only bought it cos it was cheaper than hiring for 3 weeks.

Best: Volvo 360 GLT... on my second one and even after 3 years it still puts a smile on my face, and with stiffer suspension can handle really nicely. It's taught me a lot! I wont part with this one... my first was bought as a cheapy 2.0 RWD hatch with cheap insurance (when I was 19 and most of my friends had 1.3's!)

Second Best: Skoda Favorit LS Estate - the most reliable and cheap to run car I've had to date, although that may change as I have a Felicia LXi now! Huge lugging ability and very durable!

Worst: Volvo S40 T4.. 200bhp and the fastest car I've ever owned, handled nicely but awful awful torque steer, terrible ride, uncomfortable front seats, noisy for a car in it's class, weak above 5000rpm although stonking mid range. No end of problems from turbo drain leaks, fuel pump issues, poor brakes... avoid! lol

My fave car was my 1995 Favorit GLXie Flairline in Sea Green Metallic.I loved that car as it was so, so much fun - even better than any of the rear engined Skodas I'd owned.Long gone now, but by no means forgotten.

Worst car - thats a toughie, as had a few bad ones, nearly all with either a Ford or Vauxhall badge on.1996 Vauxhall DisAstra TD Estate springs to mind - cr4p!!!

Worst car Peugeot 309 Best was Mk3 Golf. First car was Mk1 Golf 1293 CL. That was a pretty good car too.

Oh I'm forgetting about MX5 in garage. It's pretty good but not as an everyday car.

Best. Fabia VRS.

Worst Renault 5 1.1. Had it when I was 19. Insurance was twice what I paid for it. The electrics went wrong all the time. Drivers seat collapsed on the motorway, it's very scary not being able to reach the steering wheel at speed:eek:. Last straw was when the dash cracked straight down the middle.:thumbdwn::thumbdwn::thumbdwn:

Best - My 1987 Rapid :D. Very sad when it rusted out from under me :(. Or my '81 Capri 2.8i (depending on what mood im in)... also miss my '68 ford falcon.

Worst - Has to be a tie between an 89 BMW 325 (which required my entire paycheck in new parts every 2 weeks just to keep getting me to work) and an 82 Chrysler New Yorker, which was just built wrong to start with - there was nothing you could do to make it work better except crush it. Truly terrible car.

Best - The Mazda MX5 I still have. handles brilliantly, has never let me down and still makes me smile every time I drive it even after 10 years of ownership.

Worst - not sure, it can't be the Vauxhall Chevette as that was my first car so I have fond memories of it. It can't be the Nova as again it taught me a lot about repairing things. And the others have all been generally solid and reliable.

So can I have a worst car in the family but not actually owned? - If so then it's a Mk5 Ford Cortina 1.6 L. It had a variable venturi carb and would NEVER start if it was remotely cold or damp (most of the time in the UK). The only solution (prior to a manual choke conversion) was to take the spark plugs out, dry it out and then warm them in the flame of the gas cooker - usually started first tie then...

The best for me has to be Custard, my 1977 105s. My first car on the road

skoda105_1.jpg

And the worst had to be a 1986 XR4i. Even with stiffened suspension , it handled like a jelly on ice. Ended up trading it in for a mint 1.8GL with 20k miles on it at 6 years old. It handled 10 times better and was easier to get the child seat in the back

Worst car was probably a Talbot Samba Convertable . . .

DCP_0735.JPG

Not the one but you get the picture. Bought it cheap cos I was only 17 and wanted a convertable. Took it for an MOT and the sills were rotten, and you couldn't buy them anywhere. Driving it away from the MOT station and one of the bottom ball joints gave up, ripping the shaft out of the box and spilling gearbox oil everywhere.

I've had a couple of good cars like a Supaercharged Lotus Elise, 450bhp R32 Nissan Skyline GTR, Porshe Boxster S, Audi S4 to name a few but my favorite car of all was my TVR Chimerea. Did the Nurburgring in it, Silverstone etc. Had 'Speed 12' headlights fitted amoung a few choice mods and in the 8,000 miles I did in it only a snapped throttle cable went wrong. Was wicked fun to drive, sounded and looked the business and handled really well. I'll have another one, opne day!

My best car would probably be my Octy II 1.9Tdi, the only car in which I've driven in excess of 100k miles (and counting) from new. It has never let me down in nearly 4 years of motoring. One memory will be driving up the Timmeljoch Pass in the early evening trying to keep up with a fast Audi.

The Elise S1 111S I sold earlier this year was great fun whenever the sun was out and I'll never forget driving to and from Italy crossing the Stelvio and other big passes enroute.

My least memorable car would be a Mk3 Escort 1.3 which I drove as a company car for a few months. It was replaced with a 1.1 litre Fiesta which was marginally more entertaining than the Escort.

Best car: 1988 BMW 320i. Bought it for 580 quid, passed MOT first time, took it to the 'ring and back and blasted it round Cadwell for a day. Dad used it for daily transport for a year - only problem I had with it was a leaky clutch slave cylinder! Started every time, sounded great, comfortable and refined. And sold it for 875 quid!

Worst car: 1993 Ford Orion LX Zetec. Had a lot of kit, but was continuously pestered by electical gremlins and a dead gearbox eventually killed it 5 months after I bought it.

Worst Car - My first Peugeot 205 GTi. I have had 4 of these things over the years but my first one was an absolute shed.

Best Car: Toss up between the Fabia VRs and a 3 litre Honda Accord Coupe.
