Cruise Control

Featured Replies

I've got cruise control on my vRS, but I can't say I'm all that happy using it. When I use it, it feels like when I've had stuck throttle cables on cars and bikes I've owned - a very nasty experience!

I had cruise on my last Legacy and used to find it very handy on long trips - a) to stop my right ankle aching and B) To stop me speeding too much when I got bored on a long trip. The Legacy was also easy to drive on the stalk if you wanted to adjust the speed up and down on the fly - is the Octavia's not good at this?

When I can afford it (if ever!) I will definitely buy it even though you and me both are stuck in the congested SE! I'd just have to save it for longer trips.

Anyone know if there's a knowledgeable dealer who can retro-fit reasonably - what about near you Denis ?

Rob, I am not aware of any Skodas dealers in East Anglia who will retrofit cruise control. Clive Atthowe Tuning of Norwich will fit an 'original' version for

for those of you that have had cruise contol fitted to an octavia either dealer or themselves could someone post/email/pm or whatever the destructions so i can have a look and see whats involved here and maybee i could offer this service personally.

Try this link and this. I would be willing to be a guinea pig, K, if (a) you live East of Northampton, (B) can do the job without using your hammer and © don't cost an arm and a leg! Apart from removing the driver's airbag, I think the most difficult part of the operation is getting into the back of the fuse box. For a man of your talents it should be a doddle... :D

K, give Chris at Roadworthy a ring. 0117 970 1158. They fitted mine and have done about 10 others as well.

Picked up my vRS last weekend from Marshalls Skoda in Ipswich, and they retrofitted the cruise for me as part of my vehicle. It was quicker for them to get me my car by getting the car without cruise and fitting it themselves.

And it's a worthy addition cant say for petrol models as havent done one of them but have done 2 tdi (elegance's) the hardest bit isnt the airbag thats easy peesy 2 screwdrivers and a bit of patience, the hard bit is when you have to remove the scutle panel and fit the wirng as you need 4 pairs of ladies hands...

takes a bout 2-3 hours if your used to working on cars.... you do need to get your vag re-programmed..just take a few beers down to your local dealer the one in luton did mine 4 free...

just a quick addition when they have re-programmed the comp you have to turn off and return on the ignition to make th new settings "work"..

Deanlink as to how to do it

so now that i may have a guinea pig and can successfully fit this in a reasonable time who would be interested in this (at a small fee of course)?

Once you've had success with fitting to a petrol Octavia, I'd be interested to hear how you get on.

I'm in M Keynes so not far to you ?

Rob

I had mine fitted about 6 months back it works a treat

it also doubles up as a "chip" switch hmm faster and faster

there are 5 wires plus power, without stripping my car down again and "buzzing"out the switch i cant tell you any more and understandably I am not doing that......

If you buy the kit (about

Big K.

I had mine done by a SEAT Dealership. If you want to see what they did you are more than welcome to have a dig around (If you leave the Hammer in its box), I travel past Northampton 3 or 4 times a week usually.
