Cruise Control

Does anyone know if this can be retrofitted?

This needs to go in the FAQ really.

As I understand it the answer is currently:

- there is a kit available, cost about

Thanks, I'll wait and see then;)

I took my VW Bora 2 litre Sport auto to the local Plymouth Skoda with a view to having the cruise control fitted. I was quoted

Some members have had cruise retro-fitted to their Skodas by Seat garages, because Skoda won't do it.

Wax Wizard had it fitted to a VW by a Skoda garage.

Confused? I am, now.

Have not had the cruise control fitted yet. I havent been stationary long enuff to have the work done.

The local dealer also offered to fit reversing sensors but I dont need them.

Guy down the road just took delivery of a 02 TDi elegance estate last week whils I was away...today he has had the reversing sensors fitted.

It is down to the dealer if they choose to retro fit or not. Mine here in Plymouth is a "friendly" dealer and has currently an 02 vRS for sale with 230bhp (as per newspaper advert last Friday evening!!!)......friendly or what.:)

Time to trade in the Bora Mark :D

Q...right now I would if I could. I want a Superb:)

Don't get me started on cruise control fitting.

Wrong. It's my toys, and the garden rubbish stays in the garden until I take it to the local tipping site - short way there, then "interesting" roads back. SWMBO hasn't cottoned-on, yet :)

Oh silly me........did I not also say my Superb goes comfortably in my garage with room to spare? ( actually I can get my Superb and my VW Transporter in my (double) garage together at the same time and have room to move and close the door :p )

Well, autumn's here... has anybody heard whether or not Skoda will be offering cruise control as an official retro fit?

Judging by what Big K's said, no as it takes to long to do it properly to make it cost effective. But it is being offered as a factory-fit option.

OK, I don't really know, I've just noticed my post count is slipping... :D

That comment of course applies to the Fabia only.

Well, yes...but wasn't most of the time spent wiring it in "properly", which would be the same for the Octavia?

Rob.

Is there anyone futher south of Horners Manchester or the Seat dealer in Hull that can do it ?

(I'm not going to AMD in Bicester by the way)

Rob, the Octavia is much easier to wire than the Fabia, hence it is a viable retrofit option on the former.

Last time I spoke to my dealer, he said it could be retrofitted, but it's not easy and will cost a lot more than just the control box due to the labour involved.

He would do it if I bent his arm, but if timescale isn't an issue in getting the car, he'd rather order a car to spec with it and have that delivered factory fitted mid-end December.
