Anyway' date=' I'm selling the car Anyone, interested drop me a mail. It will be on autotrader next week.

Anyway, why can't they make a car that handles. What does PAS stand for porridge assisted steering? Even my wifes Golf TDI kicks the Fabia's teeth in down a country lane.
Oh yeah, as you can tell I'm not that impressed.

Great sales technique ;) lol

We went for a very long run in the cars, but it just proved only 2 things.

1 - his smokes constantly unlike my clean runner

2 - he has

are you saying you dont think a remap is worth the money Andy ?

ta !

This post is quite old. But my car is still standard.

Getting a remap is up to you whether you think it is worth it. There is no doubt it is slightly quicker - but limiting factors like the gearbox mean there will never be lots of difference between a chipped (mapped) and standard car.

But once chipped it is lots quicker than other cars - for example a standard Fabia is about as quick as a new shape 2.0 non Type R but a chipped is as quick as a 2.0 Type R.

Thus far I have been most impressed with the on road performance of Custom Code fettled cars. But Tarvia will probably recommend certain items to up the performance of a VAG diesel.

Lets remember what the fabia's roots are.....

...... A cheap little run about!

Personally if you want to improve it there are 4 must do's.....

1)Seat sport strut brace

2)Seat air intake

3)If you remap, custom is best.

4)use decent fuel

Although if i were to choose any 4 things, my top 2 would be:

1) Suspension

2) Brakes

3) Green Filter

4) Seat sport strut brace

Followed by

5) Cupra intake

6) Custom code

7) FMIC

8) turbo back zorst

I think that is as far as you need go without replacing the turbo or injectors etc etc

All I was thinking was that those 4 will cost you hopefully less than

I've been thinking about the remap options for a brand new car & I'm in two minds whether to get it done now(ish)' date=' later, or not at all (insurance)....

I thought it wasn't such a good idea to get them remapped so soon & they should be bedded in a little better first?

Edit : So I'm not completely hijacking here, I'll go for 135bhp standard & 176 mapped ;)[/quote']

Most the cars we remap are brand new, so no worries on the bedding in side of things there ;)

I did suspension, Green filter, strut brace and tuning box for under

That's odd that he didnt pull on you, my remapped vRS whipped a REVO'd one from about 60 onwards & a standard one is really VERY slow in comparison with mine. Must be down to the driver...

1 - his smokes constantly unlike my clean runner

Turn off the EGR Valve - Hey presto, no more smoke!

Just as a side-note' date=' the manual specifically recommends not doing this, especially when the engine's cold as, unlike a petrol engine, a diesel one only gets warmer under load, so the engine will be idling with cold oil in it......... :)

Chris[/quote']

Actually the manual for petrol engines says the same thing about idle warm ups. WRONG it is, start and go, and don't rev over 3000rpm until about 15 minutes pass.

But once chipped it is lots quicker than other cars - for example a standard Fabia is about as quick as a new shape 2.0 non Type R but a chipped is as quick as a 2.0 Type R.

The vRS Fabia when chipped is no where near as quick or fast as a Type R. It will have to have at LEAST 210 bhp to even get anywhere near as fast. A Civic Type-R is 1,200kgs, and it is 212 bhp. If the average maximum power figures of a remapped Fabia vRS is 180bhp, and weighs over 115kgs more, how could it even possibly be quicker than a Type-R 'remapped'?

Unless you're talkin' about an Integra Type-R, which is quite heavy at about 1400kgs...then again, it still has quite a lot more power than a remapped Furby.

Mil, you are forgetting that the chipped Fabia RS is the fastest car on the planet for example, it will out-accelerate Thrust SSC from 0-60 - true! It will out accelerate a new V10 M5 from 53-55 mph (assuming that the M5 driver can actually be ar5ed to race a shopping trolley) and Gallardo from 61-62.3mph.

Shame on you for not knowing this :grumpy:

;)

I'm pretty sure Andy knows in his heart that the Fabia can nowhere be as fast as a Type-R, even when chipped. Except for the modified 2.0 turbo petrol 200bhp model with the wide arch kit...0-60 in 6 seconds flat!

i played with my mate on the way home from work once, he has a type r........i managed to get him on the run, as a car infront of him, so i though yeyyy, he'll have to let me past.

So, i got within 3metres of his bumper, still pulling slightly, doing 110mph then his car sank about 2 inches, and he just kinda, disapeard in the distance.

thoes things are stupidly quick!

just thought i'd share that, on yeah, this was on a private test track aswell officer

Ummm, for a start the CTR only has 197 bhp, secondly I have repeatadly posted my Elvington 1/4 mile times after my car was mapped, 0-60 in 6.63 and a 1/4 mile in 14.84 which is similar to a CTR's 1/4 mile.

I agree that +100 the CTR will pull away. But considering I can pull a few lenghts on my brothers 172 to a 100 I doubt a CTR would pull away from me until it got atleast to that kind of speed.

I don't normally get involved in 'my cars faster than x' posts as they can be annoying but...

A friend of mine who used to be on FFOC when we both had Foci now has a CTR. We both went to an FFOC meet a couple of months ago in Wilmslow. Now, if anybody knows the run to and through the Wilmslow 'tunnels', you'll know it's a good stretch. :) We left the Boddington Arms pub and were toying with each other until it opened up into 2 lanes after the roundabout, then we stayed level until silly figures when he began to pull away gradually. He was amazed, impressed and pi**ed off that a diesel Skoda stayed with him.

In the real world of short roads, roundabouts and traffic there's barely any difference. The instant response of the Fabia gets you out and pushing on whilst the CTR waits to wail like a banshee. He, himself is considering having a turbo'd car again, as he's sick of having to keep the car 'on the boil' as it's tiring in every day road use.

The latest Type R models are 212bhp, not 197 IIRC.

The above mentioned CTR was the 197bhp (older) version...

Dont usually get involved in this sort of 'my cars faster than x' thread, but my mate has an 03 CTR and will happily admit that mine is either level or slightly quicker to 60, equal upto 100 and his will then slowly start to pull away.

Mil - your wrong.

Oh really? I like that...flat out...'You're wrong'. Let the specs speak for themselves.

Manufacturer: Honda S-4

Type: DOHC, 16 valves total

Just to put myself in the firing line from the pipe and slippers brigade -

I have a Celtic tuning remap and with the 160pd intake and green cotton thingy, I have timed my car to 60 at around 6 secs. Obviously this figure stands to be corrected by a more scientific method. Also top speed as indicated by the speedo is 145mph or 150mph with a tail wind (on a private road).

In real life where you don't genarally do 0-60, a remapped fabia is quicker than a lot of much more expensive powerful machinery. In standard form the in gera times put such machinery to shame.

I took out a saab aero not too long ago from 70mph upto 130 i pulled about 50 ft on him at which point he gave up. In the real world a type r civic is not a problem. In a real race on a real race track the fabia wouldnt light a candle to a type r i'm quite sure.
