THIS THREAD is a perfect example of why i am gutted that the furby (and octy) vrs were not in GT4.

Yesterday i used the simulator (its not a 'game' :P ) to prove that the clio 182 is faster around the 'ring than a clio V6, racing my mate.

The clio v6 is faster in some respects, but you will spin!

It's NOT in GT4?? I've heard it is in GT4, and I've seen pictures of it too in the game. You have to play a lot of levels to get to it.

If you spin that's driver error, not because the car in question is slower.

I have done this one with my mate lots. FAB v's OCTY = same within UK limits. In every respect really, there is so little between 2 stock cars certainly up to 70-80 mph.

Round the ring would be different though - i think power counts around the ring more than anything else really, oh and knowledge of course...........

Lets just get some things straight here.

1- Tits is not in the swear filter

2- I'm not knocking the honda - 'kin fantastic car. Its the tits

3-It was suggested by more than one person, none of whom were present at the time, that my car would not keep up with a CTR.   How can you say that when you werent there?

4-It was suggested also by more than one person that It's not possible to successfully so a fast start using second gear. Have you tried it?

How and why do people argue with no facts whatsoever pertaining to statements that have been made.

5-Another clear case of Skoda bashing on a Skoda forum. If it's not an Octavia, it's a pile of s41t seems to be the consensus.

See you at TRAX. :)

Yeah but not but yeah

What i was getting at is that if the 182 can go around corner x at 80mph the clio V6 at 80mph is all smoking tyres and brown underpants so for the same driver the 182 is faster.

Utter rubbish - even I know browned underpants are worth 50bhp. :P

That's where you're going wrong. In a RWD you need to be accelerating through a corner even if only gently rather than holding a constant speed. You can also get on the power earlier on the exit.

Interesting I'll give it a whirl ;)

I'm quite sure you can get a fast start in 2nd gear in a diesel with lots of torque' date=' but i would be very interested to see what the difference in time is between that and an ordinary 1st gear start in the same car. If you can get a couple of timed runs, i for one would be interested in seeing those times.

Obviously there's a point at which anything below a certain amount of torque, and it becomes better to use 1st gear (petrol cars).

I must have a go at a fast second gear start. I know that when rolling at 10mph, 1st gear is about as useful as [insert saying of choice here']

I think GaryM tried this in his Golf 1.8T and the difference was 1s or less, however it's not exactly clutch friendly!

Neither is SWMBO

But if its gona go, i may as well have some fun :D

Of course it doesn't matter but a discussion forum would be a bit boring without discussion!

Yeah, guess your right, continue arguing!

No offence mate, but i do love it when poeple who werent there at the time pipe up and say it can't be done, or the other driver was a muppet etc. You need an Octavia Vrs mate then you will be amongst friends.

I'm not calling your mate a muppet. I'm sure what you say is the truth. What I was mainly pointing out, is that you get sooooooooooooooooooooooooo many people on different forums saying they kept up with, OR BEAT a faster car than there's and automatically assume that that's going to be the outcome everytime. When most of the time, the other car could of not been going 100% of it's capabilty due to a number of reasons, (heavy stuff in the boot, more fuel, missed gear, wrong gear, not running well, crap driver, or just not trying 100% etc etc). I wasted a CTR this morning, but didn't take any notice, because I know the reason I wasted it would of been for one of the reasons above most probably.

No worries mate. I know what you are saying.

because mine is a Furby, and only Octavias are allowed to be fast here on Octavia.net, it just gets on my tits.

I must be missing something here as I notice a lot more Fabia owners going on about how fast their car is and what heap they have beaten of the lights  than any Octy owners (although there are a few). Octavia vRS owners don't seem to feel that they have anything to prove, whereas Fabia vRS owners do, and frankly its boring either way.

One of the things that swung me against keeping my Fabia was that the attitude of a few of the owners on here is really childish and put me off of the car.

And just to stir up a bit more... a clio 182 is also faster than even a chipped furby

No offence, but if the attitude of owners can put you off a car, you're gonna have a VERY hard time finding a mode of transport, ever.

Seeing as you quoted me, i'm going to rightly or wrongly assume your comments were directed at me.

The comment of mine that you quoted was aimed at the people who constantly snipe at fellow skoda owners for posting about a number of things. Look at Mil, he got right tw@tting the other day having mentioned having some fun with a Bmw. ALL of the poeple that flamed him drove Octavias.

I was merely responding to comments made that a chipped Fabia cant keep up with a CTR 0-60. As I have said, mine can with one a mate owns. By 100mph he is a couple of car lengths away. Then I get called a liar in all but name, and basically told i'm full of s41t. Clearly i'm going to defend myself, but in doing so, I get more s41t.

As for you selling your Fabia, because you dont like the attitude on a forum?!

Whats that about? Obviously you have an opinion the same as everyone else has one, but am I alone in thinking that is a bit shallow? If you are going to judge a vehicle by members of its forum, then good luck car hunting fella.

Baa

Im getting a clio 182, yey, still love the Fab vRS though, will never forget it... never smiled so much in a car before...

Ps you get this sort of banter with all cars, its just the nature of it, if you like your car stick with it if you dont get a new one... I say... WMW(Whatever Mcdonalds Worker) with the hand movements to!!!!!

And while i'm on one, has anybody actually driven a remapped Fabia by Celtic Tuning? Maybe, just maybe it might be quicker than a Revo or Jabba.

@ WMW with hand gestures............
