thats me out then 3 - 4 tanks a month wipe that saving out

i do wish people would stop calling it a performance car, it ISNT. its nippy and its CHEAP

compare it to a 1.6 focus and youll see its CHEAP

enjoy what you have, its cheap, nippy, and regardless of fuel used, its quite economical

Like someone posted earlier regarding nippy, nippy is the fabia 1.2 TSi 105bhp (which i just sold), quick is the vRS that is why it is classed as a Hot Hatch, fast is something sub 7 secs, very fast is something around 5 secs or less like the subaru GB270 i also just sold at 5.2 secs and 310 lbs/ft torque, which is more torque than an M3.

So enjoy!

Here is some nice proof regarding if the vRS is a quick car or not, check out the leaderboard of howfast.co.uk and scroll through the pages to the time 01:36.10 (it is a 1.4TSi vRS) now look what came below it and they all done it on a dry track, so it is a quick car.

yes but a couple of second down from the vrs is a 1600d fiesta, says a lot

oh and Harry, lends a fiver and ill put some in :giggle:

Monk you obviously did not concentrate at school :'( a couple is 2 might even stretch to a 3 (Ménage à trois) but that fiesta you refer too is 5.8sec behind the vRS which is HUGE in race time.

That's like comparing Jeremy Clarkson (fiesta) to Linford Christie (vRS) in the 100m mens final.

Finally lets compare it to some other so called Nippy cars that are a second either side of the vRS:

2007 BMW M3 01:35.00

2005 Mercedes SL55 (540BHP) modified 01:35.00

2002 Porsche Boxster 3.2S 01:35.60

2007 BMW Z4 3.0 01:35.80

2011 Skoda Fabia vRS 1.4 01:36.10

2005 BMW M3 01:36.40

2000 Renault Clio Cup 172 01:36.50

2007 Porsche Cayman 3.4S modified 01.37.10

VW Golf R32 01:37.10

2008 Ford Fiesta 1.6D 01:41.90

Here endeth the lesson, so stop calling it Nippy, it's Quick.

Yeah almost 5 seconds slower! That's ages on a track. Go troll somewhere else emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

All this 'nippy' stuff is nippin' ma heid!

From my other post on the other thread...

As for it "not being a performance engine".......I'm sorry but that is b0ll0cks........it is a 1.4lt that produces 177.5BHP?????.......thats a power to capacity of 127BHP/lt........for refference...

New BMW M5 (F10) = 126BHP/lt

Ferrari F430 = 113BHP/lt

Lexus LFA Nurburgring Edition = 117BHP/lt

Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 (997.2) = 124BHP/lt

The MKII Fabia vRS IS A HOT HATCH WITH A HIGH PERFORMANCE ENGINE......TREAT IT AS SUCH!!!!!.......

So would those who run their vRS on 95ron because "it's not a performance engine" run any of the above on 95ron?????.....as they all produce less BHP/lt than the MKII Fabia vRS!!

When will these people idiots realise that it's a highly strung engine and requires looking after??? :wonder:

You missed this from that link "howfast leaderboard"........

80 Stephen Dobie VW Polo GTI 2010 1400 (Petrol) HH Dry / Cloudy 01:33.60

Same engine!!!..........and thats fast!!!!!!

How many tanks of fuel do use a month?

its had 10 since 28 sep, and not far off another now, no hesitations, no misfires nothing. it just goes unlike some who put 98 fuel in and have had to go back to the dealers for issues coz they used the wrong 98???

and fabdavrav, dont get personal mate otherwise i could say to you go drive a real performance car and not a 13k toy, its nippy end of.

i tested my car against a mates m3 on a straight road and after a few 100 yards i got mullerd, now thats a performance car end off!!!

different things can affect cars on tracks, look at the buggati on topgear

i just think some folk need to realise what they have and stop bigging it up, god some of you need to get out more

One of my mates in uni had a "A" plate white Vauxhall Nova GSI???......fully blueprinted, ported, polished, group "N" supension and brakes.......he took me for a drive down a fast country "A" road......I couldn't belive the speed etc.....thing is he was a rally test driver for Peguoet, then Mitsubitsi, and currently works for Ford motor sport on the rally cars and was part of the team that did the current focus rally cars!

My other mate....his dad used to do rallying and son (my mate) used to have a Scooby P1 tunned to 330bhp.......and that thing could fly...and he could drive!!! So I think I know what a "fast car" in the best hands feels like!!!!

Yes the vRS it slow compared to a hypercar (what isn't)......but it is fast for the "small hatch" sector.

The main point is that it is a high output to capacity ratio engine...

Fabia vRS MKII = 127BHP/lt

New BMW M5 (F10) = 126BHP/lt

Ferrari F430 = 113BHP/lt

Lexus LFA Nurburgring Edition = 117BHP/lt

Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 (997.2) = 124BHP/lt

This means it needs to be treated correctly as per the recommendations (98ron first).....if you decide to treat your car diffently thats your problem (well it will be down the line in a few years....our the poor person who buys your car second hand).....but don't go suggesting that others follow your advice when it isn't "best practice"!!!!

This is getting pathetic. Comparing a 50k+ car to a 13k hot hatch is stupid. 98ron is PROVEN to bet better all round than 95. If you still can't see then then more fool you. I will still use it. I'd bet you'd stick budget tyres on to save money...

Also anything sub 7secs to 60 I'd call fast. Others who have driven faster stuff still will find it slower but it's still fast. I've driven faster stuff. but it's definitely more than nippy. A Swift Sport or Monte Carlo I'd consider nippy. Not adding anymore to this thread since it's pointless. Can someone just mention Nazi's to invoke Godwins Law? Just Sticky the tread and lock it. Job done.

Before the VRS I was driving a Kia Rio 3, 1.4 Automatic for 4 months.

Beleive me, the VRS holds the land speed record compared to that ! :giggle:

and this is based on what facts exactly? oh yes its based on an opinion which everyone is entitled to, including me as i have one and am entitled to do so

some of you guys are sounding like the ones who always feel they have to defend the Skoda badge to all their mates, would you like vinegar with that big chip? its a car, a very nice car but just a car

ive never once said it will or wont do this or that on 95 or 97/98/99as im no technician but your all so sure of what you say, have you ever thought about another profession, maybe give Skoda a ring and see what jobs are going since you KNOW so much

and MartynVRS, your so sure of yourself that i buy budget tyres, well maybe you wear budget nappies whilst driving, again your making an assumption based on nothing and getting personal

at the end of the day im entitled to say anything about this car i OWN, its mine not yours so just get over it. if we all thought the same itd be a boring world wouldn't it?

and yes jonny boy its nippier than those, wifes got a pug 308 and thats what id call slow too

and this is based on what facts exactly?

You don't pay attention do you?????

some of you guys are sounding like the ones who always feel they have to defend the Skoda badge to all their mates, would you like vinegar with that big chip?

Thats because some people are so badge snobbish and narrow minded they can't see beyond their own nose!!! Do you actually own a Skoda or are you just pretending to so you can TROLL????

but your all so sure of what you say, have you ever thought about another profession, maybe give Skoda a ring and see what jobs are going since you KNOW so much

Believe you me I've advised various companies "improve" their products beacuse I've told (and can prove) them where it fails......Skoda included!

at the end of the day im entitled to say anything about this car i OWN, its mine not yours so just get over it. if we all thought the same itd be a boring world wouldn't it?

All well and good but don't suggest/imply thay others follow your lead when it is against "best practice"........if your car ####s up in few years time and it has engine propblems and the dealership say "what fuel did you use?".......don't say we didn't warn you......look at the problems with the 1.4lt 16v AUB engine because of this issuse, and that is on a (relativly) unstressed engine of 72BHP/lt and not a highly stressed 127BHP/lt that the MKII vRS is!!!!

RANT OVER......

I'm out......

You don't pay attention do you?????

and neither do you, only copy the part you want, i was implying about you suggesting the engine would break down or whatever so your being selective with your highlights, why???

Do i own one, well DOH what do you think mr? again showing yourself as the one who doesnt pay attention or READ anything apart from what you want to read and you call me an idiot?

and ive NEVER implied anything, quite the contrary, but again you only read what you want. ive stated thats its each to their own

and id like to point out that ive never needed to RANT about anything unlike some, suggesting that you need to get out more

BOY OH BOY! Let's hold a P155ing contest and be done with it.

Back to the issue of FUEL, it is true that at the end of the day it is your car so run it on what you want.

But let's assume that you sell your car in the next 3 years would any of you admit to running your car on 95RON fuel if asked by the new buyer? if the answer is YES you are indeed an honorable person and i for one would not buy it (but i bet a few if not all would say of course it has only ever had 98 fuel).

If however i saw an advert for a used vRS and it said only ever run on 98 or VPower fuel, then this is the car that i would consider buying over yours.

I expect the rough idle I've had recently is down to the 45 quids worth of Morrisons unleaded I put in last week :-[

Back to the point of the thread.... I previously owned a BMW 6 cylinder that needed a new bottom half at 50K due to high sulphur-content fuel from allegedly Morrisons. Either way my TFSI runs ok on 95 or V power / Momentum. Recently it's been running continuously on V or Momentun and it feels a bit better and returned 40MPG on several long runs at 70-80 indicated on the speedo with the usual sprints to overtake or join carriageways. All in all the minimal extra cost on my 12K of personal mileage per year is worth it. Phew.
