Unfortunately I chipped a bit of paint on the clip when assembling them, nothing a bit of touch up can't solve though. B)

Car booked in for next Wednesday! B)

Fantastic mate. Edited to add, what's your insurance changes for this? And also servicing at a Skoda dealer regarding non Skoda parts, that's if you use a Skoda dealer.

nice they have given me a man fizzle! (a bit like when women see a pair of nice shoes/bag) dont forget to post pics when fitted and maybe a little mini review.

I use an independent mechanic for all the work on both mine and swmbo's cars. I will find out what impact fitting these have on my insurance in the next few days, as it's up for renewal and I wasn't overly impressed with the price they have suggested. I will be shopping around if it doesn't improve. I'm not counting on it, but technically it should reduce with better stoppers.....shouldn't it? :giggle:

I keep going in to the garage to look at them, and I'm sure a bit of wee came out the last time I visited. I will definitely be adding some before and after shots, and I will have to change my signature picture as well. ;)

Look forward to the pics. Really fancy these but would need to check with my company car insurance for them first. No issues when adding my Eibach OEM springs

Can anyone confirm which side the pad wear sensor is located? Drivers or passenger side?

I've a tin of Hammerite smooth green somewhere if you want to paint them the correct colour.... :giggle:

Normally it's on the passenger side

What size discs do these run?

345mm. OE for S3/Cupra and R32

Red is the correct colour for mid 2006 onwards! :p

Yup, passenger side it is, jacked the car up just to confirm.

As Moley says, 345mm and 16kg per disc........ :o

Very nice :p B) looking forward to seeing them on the car

Get em on. Insurance shouldn't change as they aren't going to have any effect on performance. As in power increase. Try Chris Knott

like like like!

Where did you get the clips from? They look great

Lovely :D

Very nice Lee , thought you were skint, and plus one for the green, like vRS logos too, just a teeny bit jealous B)

They are the OE S3 clips that came with the brakes. I just wrapped them in carbon and had a friend knock up the logo ( I have 4 of the badges left).

Alan, I did fancy green, but that would have involved stripping the rear calipers to get them powder coated to match, which would have meant being with out the car for a week or two. Oh, and I'm not skint...........yet! :giggle:

I pick my new CR VRS soon and have heard (on here) the standard stoppers are a little sh1te...

Are the S3 calipers a straight fit or do you need spacers or brackets?

Thanks.

Straight fit mate. Just remove standard calipers (including the rubber brake line, so unbolt from the end of the metal pipe in the arch), pads and discs and then replace with the S3 and bleed the brakes.

Pagey they look stunning fella and love the vrs badges. One thing though is when those brakes get hot is that carbon gonna come peeling or melting off? Hope not as looks spot on

Tbh I don't have a problem with the OE brakes, however as I will soon be running stage 2 I thought it would be best to upgrade. I also fitted new wheels earlier in the year and the 312mm set up looked a bit small behind them.

As Dainott says but you will also need the S3/R32 hoses as the standard ones are not long enough, beyond that they are a straight swap. I would keep my eye on egay and the for sale section on the mk5golfgti forum as they come up regularly, in fact there are a couple of sets on there at the moment.
