Coming Home Lights

Featured Replies

Hi,

I would quite like to fit or activate in some way coming home lights on my 2006 Octavia VRS. Just wondering if anyone has done this, and knows how or if it can be done. I have xenons if that makes any difference???

Cheers

Can be sett with vag-com, no problem, looks cooler with xenons( I have it on mine)

You just need someone with vcds.

As you have maxidot, once someone has enabled it with VCDS, you can then adjust the delay and turn it off using maxidot.

But will reduce the life of the xenon's, the sensible thing to do is to use the fog lights

Very Helpful, many thanks for your comments. Sounds like it could be easy then.

:D

If you could let us know where about's you are, it would be helpfull

Was never able to get coming home lights activated on my 06 vRS, only leaving home (headlights come on when I unlock the car). Some bit of coding or control module missing or summat, Simbo who sorted the LH lights for me said he'd had the same issue on another 06.

I have coming home and leaving home lights on my 06 vrs.

Both work fine and can be switched on and off or times altered in the maxidot.

Only use the car once a fortnight so not really an issue

Interesting, is this something you can do? Carl activated my lights but they stay on for over a minute......!

No maxidot here sadly, not sure if that's what makes the difference.

As far as I know the maxidot just lets you alter settings without vcds.

You were activating them correctly weren't you? Leaving the lights 'on' rather than flashing them?

Ref using the foglights instead of dipped beam iirc it's a post FL tweak only. Someone pre FL claimed to have enabled it some time ago but went quiet when asked how. If anyone does work out how it'd be great, but I'm not holding my breath.

I have only been asked to do this on FL Octavia's and Yeti / Superb's, so not 100% positive without looking to see if the coding can be done.

I didn't realise leaving home lights could work without a light sensor?

Is leaving home lights under the same section as coming home lights on VCDS?

Well it was coded by an experienced vcds user, a member on here, am sure he would've done it correctly.

Mine's essentially a dumb system without the sensor, the lights come on whenever I unlock the car, it's just not noticeable during the day so it's not a problem.

Yeah, the only difference is if you have the sensor the coming/leaving home will only work at night.

Mine are sett at 20 seconds, origanally 10 but not long enough

Silly question, what is the life span of xenon's, are they easy to replace and what do they cost, I have never had these before.

Xenon's last a lot longer than standard halogen bulbs, however they don't like being turned on and off regularly, hence why people prefer to use the foglights for the coming/leaving home function if possible.

Xenon is up to 300x brighter than halogen.

Xenon lasts up to 10x longer than halogen.

Xenon produces cleaner, whiter, brighter and safer light.

Less power consumption – 35W HID vs. 55W of Halogen.

Halogen bulbs burn hotter than the same wattage Xenon bulbs.

Neither work on the newer ecu's though.

It's the holy grail of newer VAG owners.....
