Not got built in DVD but got the VW aftermarket system which has brackets on the headrest posts. Provide a very stable picture but think the screens will be too small now, kids are miles away from them, ha ha.

Haven't got mudflaps though.

IMO I think mudflaps are a waste of time.

If you look at another car on the motorway when its pouring with rain, the mudflaps do absolutely nothing in stopping water and muck from still getting on the car. Its just another appendage to be cleaned when you wash itemoticon-0120-doh.gif

On the flip side I think the mudflaps are great - not too big but big enough to make a difference and keep some of the road grime off the car.

Agree, they do reduce some of the crap that goes up the side of the car. I fitted them and can see they help.

Are mudflaps not standard on the elegance? They are on mine, but it's MY2008. cutbacks maybe?

IMO they give the car a more adult look and do stop some muck from travelling up the car. How much are they from the stealer?

The stealer rear window blinds are very good, a perfect fit and very well made, pricey though £91!!. Got mine on eBay for £10 ;(0)

I would defo get a set of dealer genuine mats. I got the £40 ones (not the most expensive ones), but check they are all the same colour. I had 3 black and one grey!

I have mudflaps on my Suberb Combi, and altough some mud and dirt does travel up the side of the car, it is less than would be without them. That said, I am a *little* disappointed in their effectiveness.

I do prefer the look of the car with them than without them though.

IMO mud flaps do work. Not too big but effective and cheap add-on.

Although they are quite petite" I would not be without the mudflaps. The state of the roads these days it is not only dirt they are protecting the car from, but more substantial grit and stones which will soon strip the paint off the underside of the car. (Especially if you have fitted winter treads)

On the flip side I think the mudflaps are great - not too big but big enough to make a difference and keep some of the road grime off the car.

Sorry to resurect an old post.

i think the mudflaps are a very bad design and would not recomend them at all! take a look at the images

Off Side Front 7

this is on all 4 corners of the car and i am currently trying to get skodat to repair this. the car is a 59 plate (november) and has done 30k

just my 2 pence

Is that paint missing from the bodywork? Are you doing a lot of driving on gravel roads?

If so then it certainly looks like the mud flaps are doing their job, otherwise more paint would be missing.

OK you could argue they are not large enough, but there needs to be a compromise between keeping the car free from stone chips and the extra drag mudflaps cause.

There's plenty of Superbs with much higher mileage than yours with no paint issues, so it's not a mudflap design problem.

Assuming you haven't got similar damage on frontal area of car, as above what type of roads are you driving on regularly?

Mudflaps DO stop some of the road crap going up side of car, not all of it, but some. I think the car looks better with them too, and they are real cheap compared to other makes.

As for that car above, with the paint that looks like it's been through a sandblaster, that is not the mudflaps that caused that, it's more likely got faulty paint thats not harded properly.

Put mud flaps on mine after about 3 weeks of delivery and whilst they dont stop everything they do stop a lot of the c**p being thrown up on the body work. the genuine ones are a good price and very easy to fit

Paint is still immaculate on my 50k 09 Superb , and yes the mudflaps make a huge difference to the amount of crud that gets thrown up the side of the car

After owning a newJaguar XF and the new XJ in the past 4 years with the haunches or body work that extenders over the rear wheels they all suffer from pitting of the paintwork and not only does it look awful, it can be an expensive paint rectification to sort, where as if you fit the mud flaps it reduces the amount of "sand blasting" that these areas normally get and keep it looking better for longer,

IMO I would like to keep my black pearlescent looking good for a long time, not wanting to taking any chances with marking the pain't work, so I fitted the mud flaps to mine as I did to my previous cars.

There are other non standard mud flaps available on FleeBay that are larger from china , but I'll stick with the ones from Skoda..

I have never even in very muddy conditions seen dirt on my vehicle matching the pictures at the bottom similar pattern but nothing so bad, further up the side nothing like it.

The front mudflaps work extremely well when taking into account the airflow and turning the wheels, you can't drive in a straight line all the time.

Mudflaps on my MkI for 6 years no damage to paintwork.

Mudflaps on my first MkII 18 months no damage to paintwork.

Mudflaps on my present MkII Combi 18 months no damage to paintwork.

Yes they are quite small but do stop a considerable ammount of dirt getting on the bodywork. I have checked several makes of mudflaps but not found any apart from rally ones that are any longer.

Driving in all three vehicles include rural Cornwall, (where they love tar spray and loose chippings) these apart from the Isle of Arran must also be the worst maintained roads in Europe. Without mudflaps I am sure a lot of damage would have occured.

I do find that the way to stop rear bumper hoggers in the wet is to drive through puddles and surface water, even with mudlaps the spray produced works wonders.

hi sorry for the delay in my reply.

the car is driven on normal roads and motorways. i don't recall ever driving on gravel.

i have however just been to a skoda approved body shop to have paint depth reading taken to make sure its not over spray from a bad repair. and the chap there looked me square in the eye and said "you didnt expect to buy a car and never get stone chips did you" my reply was if i did i would be also complaining about the hand full of chips on the bonnet!

looking at the other photos it would seem that it is bad paint as richf's still lookes fantastic after 50k and there is nothing else anywhere online about this problem.

fingers crossed and i will have to wait and see the outcome

It must be a fault with the paint , I dont think I have ever seen any car that bad before

On my Octavia I only fitted the mudflaps during the winter since I live in the sticks and the tractors make a mess of the roads, but my Octy had done 80k and barely had a mark either , both cars have a smattering of paintchips on the bonnet and the Superb needs its third windscreen thanks to a stone chip

I'm just about to buy a set of mud flaps from the dealer £60 for both front & rear. They want £60 to fit the four but Id like to do it myself. Do the holes for fixing the flaps line up with the screws that fix the inner wheel arch covers? And do you remove those screws and use them again to fix the flaps?

Hope that makes sense!

I am sure the mud flaps cost me a lot less than £60?

As for fitting them, the rears use the OE torx screws (yes remove them, fit mud flaps and refit the screws) the front also require a small hole drilling in the plastic arch to take the plastic clip that is supplied with the front flaps.

The whole job can just about be done without even removing the wheels, drilling the front holes are the hardest part, just put the steering on full lock to give you the room required.

Cheers Gizmo!

The crap up the side & rear of the car over the last week of poor weather is unbelievable and is bound to be damaging. Any reduction has got to be worth it. Also a number of local roads have just been gravelled.

p.s. that's £60 for the four (30 front & 30 rear) inc. vat. Looking on google/ebay they're around £25 pair, so not worth the hassle., From dealer they're def. genuine, etc.

Have a look here - they're only charging £21 per pair for genuine parts, then state: "Sorry, but the items (and quantity) you have ordered have exceeded our upper most weight threshold for this delivery method,"

and slap on £14.00 for postage. Amazing!
