  • Here's a video from a rather bemused arial atom driver

  • Driven it a bit.   In a word, it is...   INSANE!!!

  • We have gone from this:   To this:   To this!!!       A Race Blue Yeti!   I need to get the Annapurnas on I think to complete the change.

Very good - looks insanely fast compared to last time I went out in it!

The noise is great, however a bit of sound deadening would be good for my ears

Proper track day car now :)

I think I'm in love with the sound of that engine! Unbelievably wonderful soundtrack! Still got the hoover is sound but a far more deep and more menacing rumble as you accelerate up! I can't wait to see it at Coombe it is going to be a wonderful day!

Looks like you had fun, top work, look forward to seeing it at Combe.

One word to describe this.....epic!

The Grey GTR seems very quick as well.

Just watched the video again. It gets better :)

Great vid. Love how you properly get your game on when you come to the GTR :D  Poor second gear though. Ouch. Seems like it was a very successful shake down of a new build - lovely sound too.

Given the weight difference, is the GTR not simply running a load more power or torque than you or is the straight line difference down to aerodynamics?

I was getting about 130-140mph down the back straight in the Yeti and passing all kinds of things.

But not something like that! :D

Just incredible! Hat's off, a properly epic car!

I don't think the BTCC cars are much faster if at all down that straight. :o  :o :o  :o  :o  :o  :o  :o

Yes, that's when my synchro decided it wasn't going to play ball anymore in 1st and 2nd...

The GT-R is running a little bit more power, a little bit less torque and is around 50kg heavier.  Remember it's the earliest twin turbo GT-R, the R32 is the smallest and lightest of them all.

It's got a better four wheel drive system that's rear with a dash of front when needed, while the Yeti has a more modern engine with more low down grunt.

Overall quite balanced and on a smaller circuit it'd be closer.

In simple terms the GT-R is quicker because it's not brick shaped.

I tended to catch it a bit in the corners (except the hairpin due to my driving) and it pulled away a bit on the straights.

Also for the full effect you have to remember, I was driving this:

And I was trying to keep up with this:

Absolutely not taking away from you or the Yeti Richard - its a fantastic achievement, just to be playing in the same ballpark. I'll hold my hands up though and say im not a GTR fan so I really don't tend to know much about them. It certainly seemed to go very well indeed, as did the Race Blue OAP special. ;)

That is some crazy speeds you were getting to :)

Absolutely brilliant. I think this will upset even more people at Brands Hatch :)

Small world.

The owner of that Skyline used to have a mk1 Fabia VRS and was a member on Brisky back in 2005.

Clearly, he has taste! :D

Bring on Combe!

Looks like it could be wet.

Much fun to be had...

Simply Stunning, Amazing, Great, Epic Car you have Richard...!!!! I can't wait to see it in flesh at Castle Combe :sun:

If you have ever recorded your run on a track then watched it back the footage always seams much slower and less impressive than at the wheel. You Richard have managed to achieve the impossible the footage looks like all the other cars are in reverse gear its epic. So god only knows how quick it feels in the car. Maximum Kudos from me

I know! Where's Mil when you need him?

@BossFox: very impressive build sir!

Absolutely Richard!!

First post on here in nearly a decade:)

(That was me driving the grey Skyline and yes he was catching in the corners and I was trying!!! )

Was quite unbelievable looking in the mirror and still seeing it there - quite distracting actually;)

Gees, skoda dream crusher is what we should call it!

If I didn't know you and the car I'd have crashed trying to get away, then been deeply depressed... For the sake of kindness you should put some warning stickers on that car!

Awesome thread, dare I say better than your skyline one?! Haven't read it all yet(i) but will savour it over the next few days...

Quality!!

Sam

It is tempting to think when watching the video that you weren't trying but here you confirm that you were indeed pushing on and still not losing him!

Maybe it should be called the Ego killer ;-)

Shows the suspension geo setup quite well, that shot  B)
