Apologies if I've missed it, but has it been on the scales now it's all mechanically finished ?

 

A bit heavier than the anticipated 1,300kg.

Partly due to the heavier hardware fitted, but also the cage and the fact that I wanted it looking like a Yeti in the front, so the moulded carpet and sound deadening is back in to support the carpet.

 

 

So it comes in around 50kg heavier than a mk1 Fabia VRS, also with a full tank.

I guess we are going to need a set of four carbon doors before we dip under 1,300kg.

They have been ordered and should provide a weight saving of around 80kg hopefully.

I am slightly disappointed on the weight as I was hoping to be 50kg or so lighter.  My only slight grumble about the whole project.

Probably.  But it can be done once it's running and being used.

I also need to get the great big Audi badge off the steering wheel.

 

We also have not yet tinted the rear doors and boot windows.

Aparently tint for polycarbonate windows isn't so easy.

The people I have spoken to so far claim that after a while I'll have issues as plastic windows can flex more than glass ones.

And as the tint doesn't flex as much...

 

Maybe I just fit some of these...

Have you considered the OEM mesh sun shades instead of tint film? They will fit in the window apertures but be independent of the actual window glass and should have the desired shading effect.

I had them in my previous Octavia estate (which did not have tinted windows) and they worked very well. Only 2 negatives points,

1-they can be a bit too opaque at oblique angles

2-the rear tailgate piece interfered with the operation of the auto dimming rear view mirror

I'm sure you can easily remove the Audi logo from the engine

The ones from Vanstyle are a pretty good alternative to the OEM ones.

Oddly they don't seem to list Skoda on their site at the moment, but they're listed on Amazon
