He just laughed and said he couldn't believe how quick it was.

This article was found thanks to a conversation on SCN

Apparently the Yeti RS used to be a diesel.

Just been skim reading re your enforced "you don't belong here mate, get on the grass that's for 4x4's" from a proper race car driver......... :x

Just another reason why I wouldn't go to certain track sessions............nothing I can add that hasn't already be said except that most "ordinary" track cars would have ripped half the underside off............ :o .

Good job the GTROC lot are more sensible .................mind you now the cats out of the bag, the shock factor has "dimmed" abit...............still flipping high, it's a flippin Skoda Yeti which just went passed...................soooo ego deflating............that's why some just can't cope & go nuts........ :giggle:

510bhp and no oven gloves required (unlike a Focus) ;)

You appear totally unphazed at 3:15, unlike the passenger :D Yeti seemed to cope very well there.

White helmet, white long sleeved top; were you taking the Stig out for a lesson?

Two things;

The wheel badge needs replacing and is the OS wiper parked correctly? Looks too far up the screen?

I was concentrating, no time to worry about things like being a bit off the track.

Just need to keep the car balanced and get back on. :D

Wheel badge, yes I know. ;)

Wiper sweep is due to using the TT-RS motor with a narrower sweep.

Can-Bus didn't like Yeti motor which has a wider sweep.

It's on the "to do" list.

No wonder there aren't loads of 2.5tfsi conversions out there... :giggle:

wiper parking's a low priority IMO.

However, the wheel badge is not :D

I agree!

that just says 'mucking fental' :D

Looks like he enjoyed it. A lot!

Great picture :)

Looks like the Yeti could lose weight by removing the seatbelts as you appear to the harnesses on the seats anyway, It all adds up ;)

Love this Richard the videos of Snetterton and particularly the mad one at Castle Combe I could watch again and again. I do also like v much how OEM (within reason) its been kept too...the fake OEM exhaust is a nice touch!

Dare I suggest it but can the 2.5 TFSI be made to push more power relatively easily or are you now at the realms of smaller gains for big bucks (or realms of that a 510hp Yeti is enough for any man perhaps!). Be interested to hear if yoy have any more planned for it.

Also again if we ever happen to meet be most grateful for a ride :-)

Well driven Richard :)

id like to make an apology to richard for my handling of earlier posts. i was a little out of line in my approach.

the car still interests me though so i will continue to take a peek in here from time to time.

on topic of the car i noticed at combe it had a lot of understeer at quarry and i can see it in the vid. is this something you feel too and do you have plans to improve the handling side of it.

Appreciated.

It's mostly because I am going into corners a bit too hard and the tyre pressures are too high.

The actual balance of the car is very good according to people that have a lot of experience in such things.

If possible I am going to add a bit more camber, lower tyre pressures and learn how to drive better. :)

Less foot to the floor

You did say you were trying to break it though and I'm amazed it all works perfectly!

Having seen some crazy conversions go wrong back in the day when every golf, polo etc had a 1.8T conversion, John Danby have done sterling work.

Great to see the v2.5 Yeti on track - not such a sleeper since even Pistonheads is talking about it!

The one problem with OPL track days is just too many cars with different performance out there at the same time. It's much safer and better with fewer cars, and cars grouped according to performance/ability.

Yeti in action, cornering hard.

The face a professional racing driver pulls after test driving the Yeti...

Takes a lot to get a look like that on a racing driver! I think he is somewhat impressed!

It wasn't going to be long before this got on Pistonheads! The reviewer of the new L&K Diesel Yeti has done a paragraph on what they know and they want to do a feature on it!
