Double figure tyres

Featured Replies

Guys , im looking into tyres for newly furbed spiders :)

All my money is really in the BBS's ,the spiders were my idea for back up for crap seasons or any other reasons my preciouses are of the car

Im not spending over a ton per corner...... Mainly due to the fact , and above allelse i havent got it :'(

Im going for 225/45/17s

The main ones i keep looking at are

Falken fk452s

Rainsport 2s as on the 19s and i am very pleased, but not many brizzle dealers

Ive also peeked at the falken ze912s, seem ok on the altea and are a bargin at about sub 80 each iirc

Thoughts anyone???

452s

912s

Rainsport 2s

I've got Falken 912's on my Fabia, I rate them as a good tyre :)

Matador MP46's, 86 quid a corner in 205 form

You can't beat a set of Neuton nt5000's mate type it into Google. All the saab forums and VX forums rave about them. I had a set of 19's and they were cracking especially as they only cost £100 a corner fitted.

452s are a good all-rounder and not too dear.

Few guys on here used to run Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas and I used to run Hankook Ventus Evo V12s not sure if either of those are still around but were £80ish a corner

Isaac Neuton?

Ill stick to my Eagles ta! Dont scrimp on your tyres folks!

I got toyo proxes t1r at weekend for £80 each and im impressed so far

Khumo ku31 or ku39 good tyres same sort of performance as the falkens but cheaper by about a tenner a corner!

Toyos i looked at , big fan of the t1r but i heard a rumour they were stopping it :( and id go nuts with non matching tyres later on lol

Ive always had top tyres up until the rainsports , but i am very impressed with them, they are just a bugger to come by in bristol :'(

Falkens seem to be easy off the shelf over here that why seem tempting

I'll peek into the others tho guys, i just look at tyres as the only things keeping you where your pointing :giggle: just noway i can afford 100+ a corner after getting the ch's  and now refurbed the spiders :giggle: ooops money tree has withered away it seems

Don't go for kumhos they may grip well etc but they wear out really quick, had ku39 fitted in may and by September they were near the limit and past it by October. Thought I had saved £40 but cost me more in the long run. Falken is what id recommend

Lol. Don't knock it till you've tried it mate. They have got brilliant reviews and are great tyre for the money. Long lasting and really good grip.

Had a Google search on them last night and they did have really Good reviews. The Saab lot really rate them, after driving a few high powered Saabs and learning what torque steer is, all I can say is they must be good lol

It's a no brainer, Rainsports Every day emoticon-0144-nod.gif

if you can get parada spec 2 get them i had the fk452 before and they are crap compared!

Exactly mate, I've just come from a 280bhp VX Signum with plenty of torque steer and they are a great tyre. They have just bought out a newer model called the NT8000 which are supposed to be even better. I will be puchasing some of these when my ditch finders finally give up the ghost or worst lol.

Err thing you'll be waiting a few years then m8, ditch finders last for ever lol

Depends if they find the ditch first. :giggle:

On topic, i don't think you'd be disappointed with the Falken's. My mate swears his are great, but i won't scrimp on tyres. So Conti Sport Contact 3's for me. They're only a bit over the £100 quid mark, and for the sake of £20 i'd prefer the best I can afford.

Out of the choices you've put up though i'd go for Rainsports, just order them online and get them delivered. Will be FAR cheaper!

Does anyone know where to get the Nt5000 or nt8000 from, preferably with a fitting network? I can onyl find the 8000 on ebay...i would then have to find someone to fit them.

Also will a 205/50/16 be okay on an octavia elegance? Regular size is 205/55/16 i believe.

Do rate my rainsports on the 19s, they have kept my octy the correct way round and right way up :giggle: so far  and im not always ..... Shall we say reserved ;) i just now live very close to a falken and toyo dealer :smirk:

The spiders will prob go on mid sep to mid march :dull: and when the car is sold :S

What id really like is eagle f1 aysametric 2s ( or however you spell it )

Neo Brothers are the uk sales agent their number is 01992 719 280. Contact them and they will send them directly to you (for very little money) and then you can have them fitted at your tyre garage of choice. I get them to fit mine as they are only 5 mins from my work. They are great people to deal with. Their main trade is racing, tuning and breaking Saabs, but have just started breaking into the VX market. I've dealt with them for the last couple of years and they really know their stuff.

Lol, not my ones. As soon as funds are available i'll be changing the fronts at least, as they are scary in the wet and still have a good 4.5 -5.0 mm on them. Even on a slightly damp surface the Octi will spin up in third if shown the slightest bit of power.

They have no website, no real reputation or brand, hardly any information online and you want me to trust these at high speed?

No ta!

I had several sets of Falkens on my Leon (same chassis as the Octy). Initially a pair of ZE512s (which I think are discontinued now) on the front which were alright, and then I upgraded to the FK452s which were much better. Only one hairy moment I can think of with the 452s which was taking a nice large roundabout near me a bit too quickly in wet weather and got a bit of understeer on exit, but equally it could have been something on the road as I took the same roundabout hundreds of times over 4 years in all conditions and it only happened the once. Other than that I found them a good tyre although I'm not usually one to drive yobbishly in the wet. Had one pair of Rainsport 2s put on the front of it over winter 2010 as well and they handled well even in the snow, but you say you can't get hold of those.

I've heard good things about Hankook V12 Evos as well and have not long had a set put on the back of my Fabia as I couldn't get Rainsport 2s either at the time.

i run avon zz3 and love them and you can get them from around 75 each

Order them online and have your locals just do the fitting. I had RainSport 2s on my last Prelude and they were fantastic
