What tyres?!

Featured Replies

Hi and apologies for my question that has been asked many times before, but as tyre technology changes all the time.....

My 225/40/18's are coming up for replacement soon, and I was hoping for some advice.

I have trawled this site, and the internet, and am overwhelemed with all the different brands/models.

The tyre I have in mind is the Avon ZZ5 or ZZ3, which look to be around £110/corner.

It seems to tick all the right boxes, but I would just like to check with the experts (yourselves!!) if I would be doing the right thing.

Thanks,

Dylan

Falken FK452

Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2

Falken FK452

I would second that

I shall be purchasing Cotenental SC5's when my tyres require repleacement.

My car came with SC2's as standard last March. I've found them extremely grippy and quiet - so I'd like to stick with the brand.

I've heard only great things about the SC5's - as they are the only thing keeping you stuck to the road I shall go this route, I won't factor cost into tyre purchases.

I second these. Excellent tyres.

ZZ3s on mine, very pleased with them especially for the price.

Yokohama AD08?

Vredestein ultrac sessanta.

Falken FK452

I agree. We currently have Avon ZZ5 on the front because the dealer put themon FOC but replaced the sawtoothed back ones with the Falken 452's. Will replace the Avon's with 452's when the time comes.

The Avons aren't too bad but I also have a full set of 452's on my Astravan and they are great for wet and dry grip and are much quieter than the crappy bridgestone turansa's that were fitted from new.

The 452's are pretty good value for money and give a quiet, comfortable ride. They have been perfectly fine for normal driving and kicking its ar5e a bit now and then but if you drive to the max all the time there may be a better more expensive alternative. So far we haven't had any issues with the 452's in the wet or dry in the car or van.

Cheers

Dave

Very happy with Avon ZZ3s on both the vRS and the ST.

My FK452s haven't lasted very well and are down to about 3mm, the grip is now terrible but I suppose that's expected with them being at the end of their life, I've ran vredestein ultracs for a few years on various cars and have just ordered 4 from elitewheels to replace the fk452s..can't wait to get them fitted

Ive had the 452 on and they were an excellent tyre.  I now have the Toyo T1 Sports fitted on all corners and they are excellent in the wet and dry. They even performed well in the snow and got me up some hills which normally Id have struggled to get up. The Sports are a dual compound tyre so they have different compounds on the inside to the outside for cornering and handling. Pretty much like a motor bike tyre with different compounds on the centre to the outside.  I rate them over the T1r and the Uniroyal rainsport for handling and grip.  Worth a look.

Michelin PS3, sweet tires..

Conti Sport 3 work for me! Get about 18k for the front.

Be interested to know opinions of the SC5?
