Monte Carlo 1.6 Tdi Cr Dpf 105 Bhp Remap & Dpf Removal

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I recently bought a new Fabia Monte Carlo 1.6 TDI CR DPF 105 bhp after trading in my 220bhp (Modified) 2009 Honda Civic Type R GT.

I guess this is still classed as a MKII with a facelift?

So far I’m happy with almost everything about the car especially the 48mpg I’m getting on average compared to the 20-24 mpg from the civic.

I have enquired about a remap with a few tuning companies but no one seems to be able to remap them at present and one snottily replied "let alone remove the DPF".

Does anyone know of a reputable tuning company that can?

I live in Glasgow so a reputable tuner near here is preferable but I’m willing to travel, my Type R was tuned by TDI North in Warrington purely because they have an excellent reputation

I would also like to lower the car and up rate the suspension as due to the state of the roads where I live hitting potholes is a regular and mostly unavoidable occurrence and when I do the bang that comes from the suspension is horrendous.

Can anyone recommend a good quality kit or separate components?

Thanks in advance

here are the figures quoted for your engine (with DPF in place)

KW BHP NM Standard: 77 105 250 Tuned: 96 130 288

edit: so givivng it 130bhp would be kinda like the mark I vRS was

Is this a Siemens ecu? Not sure theirs are any hardware tools capable of reading it.

Thanks for the link sharkrider, I'm not entirely convinced by these tuning boxes though.

I had my last two cars dyno tuned and I'd like to do the same with this one.

130bhp would make a nice improvement I'm hoping that a dyno tune will take me closer to 140bhp with the dpf removed.

@Faboka-vrs

I have no idea what make the ECU is mate if I remember I'll have a look after work

I'm not sure AMD have cracked it yet, it's the same engine as the Ibiza and no-one that I know has managed it :(

A guy on scn had his 2.0fr mapped with good results but no one with the 1.6 that i know of

AMD must be doing them as they are advertising remaps for this engine.

Reckon theres a good chance amd have it cracked there a top name in VAG tuning as they have a gti in the BTCC so they have the ability, no harming in sending them an email to ask :)

No harm in contacting them.

All the tuning companies will be using similar hardware like kess v2, mpps, cmd, byte shooter etc. So probably waiting for them to crack it.

nay bother, lots of people prefere the remap, and you should get a better reslult IF its bespoke for your car :) I just have a prefrence for TMC due to its removability....

agreed, they cant advertise it without being able to offer it! however it doesn't mention if its the DPF equipped car.. TMC have two boxes one for the DPF car and one for "stage 2" which I assume would be removal of the DPF...

best advice if you want the map just give AMD a call, and explain the want the DPF removed too

if you remove the dpf, will this effect the road tax fund? £20 with without £130

No.

VED is based on CO2 emmissions when new based on a car tested. Anything you do to change the car (like even load it up, which adds to emissions) has no effect.

Otherwise VED would go up when you put a roof rack on etc...

TMC do a stage 2 box that fits directly to the injectors, 100KW, 136BHP and 315NM.

If the DPF and sensor are removed without the ECU being cracked the car will think there is a fault and probably go into limp mode.

As said it's best to drop an email.

I know a couple of boys with this engine in the Ibiza that have gone to places to have remaps and they ended up saying they couldn't do it.

So during mot testing, if emissions are elevated won't it fail as the dpf collects soot and particulates, will the mot test pick this up ?

It can be a big job to do a DPF delete in some cars,my mates 2010 VW Van took 6hrs of messing about to delete DPF and Remap.Cars from 2009 have tricore processors which are supposed to be tamperproof.

Many new cars now require the ecu to be removed and opened up on a bench as they are not able to be remapped via OBD port.

My 08 Fabia 1.9pd has EDC17 Bosch ecu which is can be remapped as no Tricore or DPF to delete,i think the later Fabia's use same ECU but with a Tricore processor.

No as emissions aren't tested on diesels.

And on petrols, the Emissions are a set level by the government, not the CO2 level for your car on the V5.

Enquiery sent to AMD

Hi,

I recently bought a new Skoda Fabia (61) Monte Carlo 1.6 TDi CR DPF 105.

I would like to have the DPF removed and a remap if possible, could you tell me how much this would be please.

Also I noticed that a remap is half price if bought with a Milltek exhaust, could I have a price with DPF removed, remap and Milltek exhaust fitted as well please.

I am also interested in upgrading the suspension to the KW VARIANT 2 INOX KIT I’m not sure which to go for though as the site list 5 variants of the same product 4 of which seem to be exactly the same and the 5th is the RS variant.

Can you explain the difference please?

Thanks,

Iain

will be very interested to see the final results, I believe you may be making a good approximation of the mark I vRS in mark II form :)

Good Afternoon Iain,

Thank you for your enquiry ref your Fabia.

I am afraid we are not able to offer a DPF delete and remap for this model yet, we are still working on breaking the security coding for the ECU’s and finding all the parameters that would need changing to map the DPF out. Unfortunately you cannot remove and DPF without having the car remapped to suit, the car simply wouldn’t run correctly. It is also worth considering that with your car being so new, it would void the warranty if a DPF delete was carried out. There is also not a Milltek exhaust available for the Monte Carlo model as of yet, it is unlikely there will be a system for this model due to the car running a discreet exhaust as standard, if a system were to be made it would also require a new rear bumper valance.

With reference to the coilovers there are only 3 KW kits available, V1, V2 and V3.

The difference between them are as follows

· V1’s – Height adjustable only

· V2’s – Height and rebound adjustable

· V3’s – Height, bump and rebound adjustable

I would recommend going for either V1’s or V3’s. V2’s even by KW’s own admission are abit of a pointless coilover as you can’t set up a car to handle properly with just rebound adjustment. If you are just looking for improved handling with height adjustment then the V1’s would be best or if you would like to have the adjustability to set the car up to ride and handle exactly how you like it the V3’s would be best.

Hope this helps but if you do have any further questions please do not hesitate in contacting me.

Hi Ben,

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

Please keep me updated if you do manage to crack the ECU.

What I meant by 5 variants of the KW kits is that if for example I click on variant 1 which just allows height control I am then presented with 5 links to the same product the first 4 links say exactly the same thing that it's for saloon, estate etc and that the height can be adjusted by something like 5-50mm but the bottom link is for the RS and can only be adjusted something like 5-40mm.

This makes choosing difficult especially as there are only supposed to be 3 variants but in effect the site shows 15 versions.

Regards,

Iain Campbell.

Hello Iain,

There are 5 different kits for the Fabia, this depends on the model, engine and axle weights of the vehicle. The reason the RS can be lowered less is that is it already lowered more than the normal models. If you wanted to book in for them or order them mail order, you can give us a call and we can order the right ones.

Could take quite a while before i can do anything at all it looks like these ECU's are an absolute pain to crack, if i'm heading to essex to get the work done i want to do it in just one trip so i'll hang off until i have confirmation that it's possible to remap the ECU and remove the DPF.

Hopefully they can get it cracked ASAP
