  • http://www.tmcmotors...arProducts.aspx they have your car listed, TMC tuning boxes have a good record with the fiat and audi forums, and vrs-powered has had his vRS on the RR with one at 211 bhp...

  • Thanks for all the advice and sorry for the late reply i've been ripping down the rest a bedroom ceiling after part of it collapsed! I'll enquire @ amd on Thursday and let you all know what they say.

  • will be very interested to see the final results, I believe you may be making a good approximation of the mark I vRS in mark II form

Just gave the site a good read over there ...... i'm tempted now, TMC Tuning box plus a panel filter could get me up to 136bhp.

Have you tried these guys? http://www.bvrtuning.co.uk/

I had a look at the site mate i haven't contacted them but they don't have the new engines listed i'm just going to assume from now on if it's not listed they can't do it yet.

Thanks for the link though :)

Hopefully they can get it cracked ASAP

Hopefully mate but the only ETA i've been given so far is "hopefully by summer time".

It's been like that for a while :( I know a few people are wanting it

Thanks Ross, still not sure I trust these race boxes yet but I am tempted.

@ mdk1

I haven't mate no I've asked a few companies and all have said they can't tune them yet and to be honest I've only had a skoda for a week so I have no clue who the best tuning companies are for VW group cars.

I take it they have a good reputation?

AFAIK, at the moment due to the ECU its the only option you have. From memory they are even more complex than the ECU on the 1.2 TSi and that hasnt been broken for long (and I am not aware of a remapped 1.2 anywhere in the UK yet)

Yay Just found out how to use Quote on the iPhone :p

Yeah your right a tuning box does seem to be the only option at the moment and probably for quite some time.

The cars only new so I'm still undecided on whether to just leave it till the ECU has been cracked or get one of these tuning boxes.

Either way I think the first thing I'll save for is a suspension kit I find the OEM kit quite poor.

Just posted a message to him hopefully he'll get back to me soon, you can follow the thread here if your interested :)

I checked with Ben in the last month and the ECU hadn't been cracked then

I'm wanting the same for my Monte, but I think it's just going to be a question of being patient

Has anyone used a pipercross panel filter?

Are they any good or are the promises they make about lasting a lifetime and providing better airflow all just kidology?

I went and ordered one today and I'm wondering if it was worth it.

Yeah its worth waiting i am sure it will be cracked soon as the 1.6cr engine is in Skoda Seat VW so a decent market there.I am getting my car remapped next week and i considered getting a performance filter but decided against it as i don't think it will make any difference in a diesel.

I know some panel filters can give proven gains in turbo petrols.

The best thing is to convince yourself its giving you extra power then its worth it ;)

  • 1 month later...

I've read various articles which tested air filters and more often than not the standard paper element filter is as good as the so called performance filter. Don't bother.

I went and ordered one today and I'm wondering if it was worth it.

Long and short of it - NO.

For a petrol where the map is based on airflow yes, for a diesel where the map isn't its a total waste of money on a stock car. With a map where it might need the extra airflow maybe, otherwise no.

The Skoda dealership where I got my Monte Carlo offer a REVO remap (135 bhp) and still maintain the car under warranty:

Details: http://www.revotechnik.com/

Power graph: http://www.revotechnik.com/index.php?mod=show_news&id_nws=90

I know for a fact they have to solder a chip on the ECU to break the security but the few people who I've spoke to who have had it done have been very happy and the dealership must be confident in REVO's work otherwise they wouldn't maintain the warranty.

EDIT: Apologies, its 135 not 140. Edited post accordingly.

Revo's figures also confirm that the lower-powered diesel is just a detuned version of the 105, so they can get exactly the same output from the 'lesser' engine

Sounds good that!!

Will be asking Faintree (Shropshire Skoda) about this on Monday as I should be picking up our new monte Friday.

Steve

I will becollecting my tdi 105 (second hand) next week and wondered how much approximately it would cost to just remove and not replace the dpf should it go. Would it be much cheaper than a full replacement and would it cause the exhaust te emit lots of black smoke all the time?

I ask because the longevity of the dpf is still not guaranteed or known.

Any updates on this dpf removal on the 1.6?

All seems to have gone very quiet.
