It's all about the R. 300 bhp 400nm from the factory. Maybe not as light as an evo but still nimble when required.

Also got a choice of saloon or estate.

I'm biassed so to balance things I'd also say r32. Or even an s4. I think an rs4 is out of budget though.

What about a BMW 330d?

RWD, fast, frugal.

Or if that isn't good enough a 330i or M3.

Or completely left field, whatever the quickest Clio/Megane you can afford. Everyone raves about them as fun hot hatches these days. £10k should get a lot newer car than any of the other suggestions

I had an A3 3.2 and it wasn't nimble or particularly quick, I drove my friends R32 and it was exactly the same. If you'd like 4wd and nimble you won't get much better than an evo, I've only drove an Evo V but it was good, that was my friends, he has not bought a Mk1 Leon Cupra R now that replaced the Evo and that is a hoot, but way below budget! I had an Mx5 which was really good fun, if you want quicker go S2000. Hatch-wise, the S3 is quick and still very classy IMO. Maybe a Mazda 3 MPS or the Mazda 6 MPS, not many around at all. Focus ST's are nice and quick, the old RS Is pretty cool too but are bone shakingly hard ride! Hope you're happy with your selection, there are plenty of decent bargains out there at the moment!

Standard wheels and brakes!. He's missed the bit out where as you whiz past the m3, you move into the outside lane at speed and some **** pulls out in front (we'll say a white a4) and you collide into the back of him. Or you swerve and lose control because the suspension and tyres are useless.

Still a nice concept though.

The 848 Rossi rep is a beut, so is the Escort with a bit of work, BUT I would still rather a Sierra RS500 Cosworth in black like my old man had years ago, but a good one easily exceeds the budget lol.
