key stuck in ignition!

Featured Replies

Twice today as I've parked up my key has stuck in the ignition? Car is in park, nothing out of the ordinary apart from being unable to remove key?

My solution was to restart the car and move back and forward a few inches then switch off?

It's galling because I've been 'bragging' to friends/neighbours about how chuffed I am with the car :-)

Any advice greatly appreciated, thank you.

A normal key, or one of the wireless ones?

If the latter, dont you push them in slightly so the clamp releases it fully?

Hi gadgetman, its a 55 plate, 1.8 petrol auto T, I think its just a normal key, not sure though?

Wiggle the shifter a few times back and forth through the gears, it will only come out in park, it sounds like park isn't engaging.

Read on a VW site/board that it is common if 'park' is not engaged properly, as you have suggested, I think car was standing for some time before I bought it so have WD'd the tumbler and gear selectors, will let you know how I get on :-)

BTW this is a fantastic resource for Skoda owners, thanks to all who have advised/helped, kind regards, omnipeta.
