VRS ABS/TRACTION

Featured Replies

Well guys, just a quick question, i own a 2007 race blue diesal vrs, last sunday i got a warning light on the dash that indicated there was a problem w/ TCS & ESP, i brought the car into get the injectors changed yesterday because of the recall and got the car back today, i asked them could they have a look at the dash light to see what the ptoblem was and they came back to me and said that the abs/traction was gone and needed replacing ASAP.. basically the unit was shot!! it only has the standard brakes now! they quoted me saying it would cost anywhere around €1800 to get a new one installed! just wondering has anyone else had this kind of problem or if it is common in these cars. had the car now for 14months now... thanks

Has many people with a Vrs had this problem or just a few?

It's the teves mk 60 unit. Common problem mine went last year cost me about 450 all in. The problem is the pressure switch fails.

Hi guys,

I think this is the best place for me to post this. My octy has been absolutely fine up until this morning when i stalled it lol and then suddenly the abs light and esp light was on. Very odd i thought, as far as i can tell the abs is still working.

Are there any other minor parts that may have failed caused by my wet trainer slipping off the clutch with the brake on (ooops, shining example of how bad driving wrecks cars lol)

Also, will it fail the MOT with these lights on?

Cheers

ABS and ESP lights are MOT failure, if the fault happened suddenly and the ABS still works you may just need a scan and fault clearance.

Happened to me last year.

If the light will go off below 30mph and come back on as you accelerate it's probably just a sensor.

If all three come on and stay on it's probably the teves, on an 07 it's pretty much inevitable.

Bad news - as said, you've no ABS, TCS, ASR or pressure monitoring now and it's an MOT fail if it applies to you.

Good news - If you've FSSH you might get it done for nothing through good will. Even if you don't it's nowhere near as expensive as it used to be. I picked up the part from a Skoda dealer on Ebay for £180 and it was fitted for about another £100 by a VAG specialist indy. The new part needs coded in so it can't be done by just anyone.

I kept getting the light on in my last Octy, and it turned out to be an ABS ring/sensor on one of the wheels....

It turned out to be just a fuse *bashes head against wall*

Hello I have a Skoda Octavia vrs cr mk2 recently had 3 warning lights on dash (abs) then (flat Tyre)(traction control) lights on dash so a bought a obd2 scanner from eBay£12 this brought up the code 00287 rear right abs sensor so I ordered a bosh branded one £32 rather than the cheap ones as Iv heard bad reviews with the £10 ones any way I watched YouTube how to fit.after old one removed and new one fitted I used scanner to remove the fault code and now all faults have gone and all working as should ,hope this helps with any one els with the same problem. Ps I managed to get to the abs sensor with just removing the wheel and half the brake caliper I left the disk and hub on, then I also used a can of air and oil to clean inside of the hole that the sensor to get to the abs ring to clean that just to make sure that is all OK too. Then I cleaned the disk before putting pads and caliper back on . All the best
