Noise from grooved disc brakes

Featured Replies

Well if the seller was selling them as ebc disc brakes and they not, you have the right to return them.

If the noise is that bad, return them and go for something with less holes or no holes.

Ball is in your court.

Did u get them from the brake depot mate

When I had EBC grooved discs on my Celica they used to make a ticking noise whenever the car was moving. It was so annoying when the window was down that I changed them for standard in the end. I'd say you've got good grounds to get a full refund on them and just fit some standard discs with uprated pads. Strangely though I've got grooved discs on my Fabia and they don't make any noise when driving, only a very slight vibration when braking.

If you do decide to change the discs, but still want performance ones, why not try EBC's Ultimax slotted ones.

That's what I've fitted and are silent under braking.

Thanks guys.I`ve taken them all off and waiting for the parcel man to collect them to return them back top the Ebay seller-who was an individual and not the brake depo.

I have ordered brand new ones ehhhheeeeee :) Front EBC Ultimax with Ferodo DS2500 pads and back EBC basic dics with Ferodo pads. I hope I made the right choice this time.....

It was discussed a while ago weather the DS2500 are legal for road use and someone mentioned a regulation (reg 90). http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/155594-ds2500-track-day-only-pads/ Before that thread a lot of people used them with good results.

I'm guessing you have different callipers to standard as the fronts pads don't look like mine at all.

If they r good for racing they will `perform` on the road as well :)

I have the 312 front and 256 rear

is it okay and safe to use them??

Loads of people have used DS2500 pads on the road with good results.

is it okay and safe to use them??

It safe (safer) to use them, but they are not road legal.

The problem is that the EU introduced a rule that stated that the friction coefficient must be within 15% of the OE pads. This was to stop poor quality pads being sold. Unfortunately, better pads with a friction coefficient of OEM+15% also fall foul of reg 90 so are not road legal.
