Castle Combe Summer Action Day 8th Sept 2012! Brisky stand & track!

Featured Replies

As you'll see the GPS speeds are out.

It struggled with the changes of direction and rapid acceleration/deceleration.

Very quick car there Richard and some good footage around the track but missed the bit that I was waiting for !!!

Was looking forward to some nice footage of me on the cool down lap but all I got was the text and was cut short :'(

In the process of uploading mine at the moment, but on a slow connection, so will take about 2 hours

You will just see you car passing but be quick you too fast !!

Also at the end you'll hear me saying "that bloody Nissan gonna lap me !" :giggle:

Cheers

Karl

Anyone logged any lap times? I did -

1:33.2

1:31.8

1:31.8

1.32.9

1:31.6

Yep, mine was just over an hour.

Think I could 'go quicker' as I stopped for drinks, for a waz and to take a few photo's. Also, traction on the grass was problem !!

I can do that cool down bit for you if you like?

If you could Richard it would be much appreciated

Karl

I'll upload the rear camera stuff later too.

There is some good footage of a few of the other cars following me round corners.

Especially yours Simon(K24) as you were with me through a few bends.

EDIT: Actually having watched it, there is some good footage of quite a few cars. :)

Thanks Richard

Still got an hour to go according to You Tube before I can post mine up - dam living in a rural area !!

Karl

Rear Camera...

I suppose the fearless kiddo will be sending the repair bill to the kind soul who gave him that gem of a advice?

When do practice you SHOULD go out for shape, off line, occasionally off track but that is normal when you trying to find a limit for your car on a day. That is why I thought there was a failure as that going off was waaaay to quick to be normal lol. But a list the girl will have some memories ha ha ha

I liked those GTR vids so much that I even went on auto trader to check prices lol

I better buy a skoda then

I think Jason means on the track session.

You could always book another one if you feel the urge to stretch the legs on your S4. :)

Great stuff Karl, you had a much clearer image than mine.

I think mine suffered with so much light due to a wide view of the sky.

Your mounting point seems to limit this better, being further back.

How do you have the camera fixed and what recording unit are you using?

No chance of that Rich, the thumb prints keeping him in check :D haha only messing :)

Is the s4 on auto trader yet Nick?

I had the same problem first time I tired to record some track day footage, mounting it further back does seem to get a better video only problem is that swmbo head keeps spoiling the view around corners lol.

Nothing high tech just a 2 1/2 foot long 2"by2" bit of wood with two holes in it for the headrest poles to slot through and a bungee cord to wrap round the other headrest to stabilise it. Taken with a normal HD Camcorder.

Works well though

Karl

Works very well IMO. :)

I'll have to have a think on how to mount the cameras in the Citygo for next time...

Just waiting for some more vids to pop up...

It's so nice to see the car in action from the outside for a change!

I'm uploading mine now so will be a while. Usual stuff from me with being over cautious and a few missed apexes but like last time towards the end I got more confident, got tidier and the times came down. Going to start looking at more track days but not in my own car, at least not until next year. If I can find good track tuition I wouldn't mind doing that.

Oh yeah sold it already. Stage 2 GTR on the way!

Good to see my car on track from another car, all be it brief but i am on the rear view camera of BossFox camera for a few more seconds than the front. :D

Another top meet gents and thank the lord for sunshine.

The delay was annoying and meant a LOT of hanging about but having now seen what the Fiat did it understandable. A shame that straight after the restart we were delated fruther by an Evo going pop and laying oil down after quary (hence all the Cement dust in our session)

As Jay has said we think a second of overboost dumped the car into limp mode.

Given my potential turbo issues (oits potentially on its last legs) I thought i'd heed the cars advise and limp to the pits.

Luckily we were greeted by the a waving chequered flag as we trundled down the pitlane so only lost a couple of laps really.

Once back in a quick IT fix (turn it off and on again) sorted it and it ran perfectly all the way home.

I'll extend my apologies to any trackers i confused by creeping down the right hand side of the track forcing "against the rules" overtaking on the left. I was just trying to stay as far out of the way as posssible.

Am a bit concerned by the level of smoke from my car. Apparently I was "the only car followed by a cloud of soot" and from the photos i am the only one spraying a James Bond style smoke cloud. Maybe when I replace the turbo I will get a fresh remap done.

Mrs Pasty has played chief photographer from Folly (the right hander after the start finish line) so shall try to post something of everyone in due course when they've been filtered, approved and photobucket has done its stuff.

Glad everything okay Pasty. I made comment to my GF in the car that i hoped everything was okay with you and looked over to you as you went through Bobbies chicane to see that you were okay.

I don't remember the smoke when you went past me but i can see it in the other vids. :(

Great day, Cheers Jason for the organising of it. I had fun, So did my Mate, Chris. If you look at the Fiat, He has his foot on the Brake already, So I would guess caught out by the corner braked and that was it, straight on no matter how much you turn.

Here is my footage, it's ok, think will mount in centre next time as slightly to the passenger side, but for a cheap icc it was ok.

Could Have gone faster, but first time with new set up so wasnt sure how would react too well if was nutter. Damn, Josh and BossFox were off. lol

I've just watched Karl's video and I can but apologise for the amount of black stuff that must be stuck to the front of his car now!

Holy poo! I knew it looked bad in the mirror but following it truly is James bond style stuff!!

Maybe time to start investing in v-power diesel or some bottle of Millers ;)

Photobucket is doing it's thing so shall post pictures later on

Just out of interest is the stuff on the track cement to soak petrol / oil up ?

Just been out to the car for the first time today and its covered in dust, will another day before a swill make much difference ?

Just hammered with rain here so whatever dust is on it has gone. Overdue a wash though
