Featured Replies

I'd likely be up for another trip to Combe. B)

On another note, does anyone know what happened to PastyBoy on track and did he get home okay??

I was in the passenger seat. Dropped into limp mode round Quarry so limped back to pit. Turned ignition on/off and boost came back so assume it probably sensed some overboost. Hopefully has been hooked up to VCDS to confirm by now,

Thanks.

Hopefully won't be too serious then. I was a bit concerned when i saw the hazards come on as i was approaching.

An entirely epic FAIL on my part with relation to video. Not one of the 3 cameras recorded anything :(

Bullet cam bit the dust at Quarry, as the Blu-tac in the mount got too soft in the heat.... cue 4 minutes of footage of it rolling around the floor of my car!!!!

Old faithful suffered in the heat, after boiling the coolant and the guage going into the red it turns out my radiator fans are not working.

FMIC was really, really hot and suffered massive heatsoak in 4th along Avin Rise.

Good day nontheless and thanks to Jason for organsing.

Looking forward to the pics and videos (yours that is :giggle:)

He did as me for a scan, but didn't realise at the time he'd been into limp mode :(

Yeah this has become the main meet now and I don't see why once it's put into the main meet section, or even have a sticky in each section linking back to it it could be all Skodas. It's a really good time

The second time in two years I've been along although a bit of a trek from Kent it's a great day, I do appreciate the need to have the stand all skoda and whole heartedly support that. I would be mind full of any cost restructuring as any major increase for the track sessio may be too much for some people. The track session is an intrinsic part of the whole thing generating a lot of banter and a bit of build up and the drivers excuses afterwards!!

I'll hopefully be there again next year with a Skoda (I'll drop the V-Storm off at the scooby stand!!)

Anyone logged any lap times? I did -

1:31.8

1.32.9

i did pop down after. cars where looking good guys. joshh the ren looked good on track looked impressive. hopefully my fab will be ready for the next one.

I better buy a skoda then

Good day out again everyone, and cracking weather.

Many thanks to you Richard for taking me out in the GTR - it's a very very competent piece of kit. I was surprised just how nice it felt to be in too (as I'm not normally a huge fan of Jap interiors!) - nothing I go in now will seem fast enough so cheers for that! ;)

I will upload my video soon, but with the sudden mad rush that ensued I put the camera mount on the wrong seat, so it's all wobbly!

I didn't really manage to get any quick laps in due to traffic, seems the quickest was about a 1.29.5, but again this is a taster session for everyone so it's nice just to go out for a bit.

I have two "flyby" video clips of the yellow peril but due to a general lack of energy for anything :D I got nothing else. I might have caught some stand footage on my DR400G when I drove in. :o Just gutting for me showing up with the car as ready for track as ever and not wanting to go out due to Prague this week, and feeling under the weather.

If i did under 2 minutes per lap, i'll be happy. :D

Here's why we were delayed for so long...

He came in going WAAY to quick lol

Too quick, and wrong line too. Just appeared to have a death wish?! :o

Sadly I can't book the action for April 2013 as the date hasn't been released yet.

In that vid it seems like brake failure to me... He just went straight ahead without attempting to emergency brake. Normally when you overcook the speed you tend to drop the anchors 100% hoping it will slow you down enough so you could some steering. The vid shows no speed dropping off at all.

Other than that he did have a death wish ;)

Death wish I think, he is a friend of a friend it turns out.

Had a young girl in the car with him too, no mention of a brake failure or anything just plain crazy

Does look like there's someting up with the brakes plus inexperience. Being new to track to driving I've never liked that corner

Just found out the exact reason for it. He was 'told' he could take that bend in 4th flat out @ 130mph so did...

Did he happen to have a go of that F1 race sim before he went out?

numpty! Never wish harm/car damage on most people, but anyone who takes advice like that blind deserves it. I've watched enough camp corner crashes on youtube to know you treat it with respect. Its my 2nd most respected corner after the avon rise/quarry section.

Roughly I did a couple of 1.29, a couple of 1.25 and a couple of 1.24.

Which was with variable numbers of overtakes each lap.

I was quicker than last time but got held up in a few places. Could give loads of excuses but I shan't bother. It's a bit of fun

Exactly, this is the whole point of the day out. Having fun.

Hence why it's a track session and not a race.
