Galaxy S3

Featured Replies

Sooo tempted to buy this with my part of my annual bonus in May. Currently got an LG 2X stuck on 2.2

Beats it into a cocked hat. Really looks a cut above the rest again and if the battery life is as good as initial tests show, I'm tempted. Fair play to Samsung.

Just need to do my best to hold off as long as possible so it goes down in price a little bit I think.

  • Well I tried out HTC's One X which is a similar size and didn't get on with it. How on earth do you type quickly if you have one hand tied up solely supporting the phone? I find the One X too big and

  • Well you should have checked ICS out BEFORE you downgraded!!!! ICS is a bit of a mess across the board at the moment for smartphones.....S2 works just great on Gingerbread, fast and smooth with RSAP

Just don't accept any so called upgrade of the OS. Personally I wouldn't touch one for the foreseeable future, until the phone fashionista's & early adopters have paid the most money & found

Great phone but also tempted by the new quad core HTC's. Love the Sense front end

What to do??!!

It's too damn big for me, 4.3" screen size (What the SGS2 was) is the absolute limit for what I can operate with one hand and fit in to my pocket. Only place you can put the S3 is in the top of your shirt pocket, it's massive, it's basically a tablet with an earpiece and 2G GSM.

my wifes just got her new galaxy s2 realy good phone better than my i phone and only £21 a month.and now the s3 out this will get cheaper i expect

Think is though the phone itself has only got very slightly bigger. I always hold my phone in the palm of my left hand and use my right index finger for the screen so screen size isn't really a problem. The Galaxy S3 is still smaller than my current phone.... :S

Looks good but did it need to be bigger? Nice to see they kept the removable battery and memory card slot. Don't matter which version you buy then as all you need to do is pop a memory card in to up the storage

I find the One X too big and too pricey, so I've been carefully considering a One S. However, not sure I can forgive HTC for making the battery inaccessible or worse still, deleting the MicroSD slot. You get 16 GB and that's your lot, for 2 years if you're on a contract; what a stupid design decision. The latest Sense is nice though, much nicer than TouchWiz. Maybe I'll go the third way and get Sony's Xperia S, still not expandable but at least you get 32 GB, 1.5 GHz and a 720p screen.

Having said all of that, I'll probably end up with SGS2 from CEX.

Agreed, quite possibly the most stupid thing HTC could have done. Why do this?! I also noticed that the HTC One V has both SD and removable battery..

WHY!!!??!!

A friend at work has just got a S2 and you should see him try and text lol, I have no problems with mine i just use the T9? (numeric) keyboard lol

I'm out of contract now so also considering upgrade paths. The S3 looks awesome in terms of technology and what it can do, but I'm also not sure about the sheer size of the thing. My phone spends a lot of time in my pocket when I'm out and about and I just wonder how it/I would cope with something that big in a pocket. Although having said that my nephew just got the new Motorola Razr and I did the pocket test with that and it felt fine.....though granted it only has a 4.3" screen compared to the 4.8" of the S3, plus it's super thin.

The iPhone 4S does seem a nice bit of kit but defo seems to be 2nd best to the S3 in terms of what it can do.

The Razr is roughly the same size as the Galaxy SII (SGS2), but thinner. In fact it's the thinnest smartphone you can pick up at the moment, so no wonder it's okay in your pocket. I considered the Razr too but ruled it out, although I can't actually remember why now, but there was some reasonable reason ('scuse my Anglais). Oh and I thought the Kevlar back would feel sexy, it doesn't, it looks like cheaply printed rubber and feels much the same.

That's one thing to be said for the HTCs, build quality of the cases is fantastic, I've had a HTC Legend for 18 months now, the phone that started the phone unibody aluminium thing and it still looks and feels great (just a shame the reception is ballcocks and the Android 2.2 update slowed it to a crawl...). In comparison the SGS2 feels cheap and plasticky and the Xperia S has HUGE panel gaps that wouldn't look amiss on a Land Rover Defender. Having a removable back is kinda pointless on that phone because all you can do is pop a sim card in it, nothing else is accessible.#

If anyone is considered going down the iPhone route (NOOOOOO!) you'd be wise to wait for the iPhone 5 which will be out later this year. The 4/4S is looking seriously dated now, especially with a poxxy 3.5" screen which is easily cracked...

I'm holding out for it instead of the One X. The One X has got a few issues apparently; the guy at the Orange shop I was in the other day said they’ve had a few back for horrendous batteries (3-4 hours) and some that over heat, one so much it burnt the LCD screen!

The SGS3 is soooo overrated.

The SGS2 is overrated too.

I'm craving an old school nokia (not this windows cr*p) to get battery life and normal keys rather than a touch screen.

Otherwise a blackberry bold from the real keyboard department would be nice too.

Speaking of old school I'm sporting a K800i at the minute, the battery was charged Tue and its still at about 25%. I actually hate the keys and the tiny screen, LOL.

To be fair the One X is over rated too, and I’m a long term HTC fan!

I’m going to try them both side by side in a shop before I commit to one though.

If we're having a competition to name the most overrated phone (which it would appear we are) then nothing really trumps any Apple product. They're all hideously overpriced, overrated and over here! I shall specifically single out the iPhone though, all the extra money to have a piece of fruit draw on the back and some serious vendor lock-in.

I actually think all of the touch screen phones and a lot of other smart phones are a triumph of form over function.

E-mail phone, so how good is a touch screen to type on?

Oh and it's a phone, so being good at phone calls would be one of the primary objectives too.

Making a 30 minute call then being off for the rest of the day or until you can find a charger isn't helpful.

I use a Nokia n72 as my works diary to put shifts in, on all the time and although not connected to any network lasts 3 to 4 weeks without charge lol

I still haven't found any phone that can match the Nokia for the diary function lol

Still trying to source a decent priced Sensation XE I can run SIM free.

Prices have risen new.  WTF?

Don't forget that Apple 'may' be announcing the iPhone 5 at their Worldwide Development Conference between 11/15 June.

I'm also VERY tempted by the S3 and cannot disagree that it DOES have some impressive credentials. :p

I've got a galaxy note and love it. Never going back, s2 looks an awesome phone but personal preference. If ya like iPhone and apple then ppl tend to stay with that. Me sister had an iPhone and switched to s2 and so has me cppl more of me mates. Several are on about changing to the s3

I have an s2 for my work phone and a desire for my own phone. The desire just seems too small for reading web pages these days. The s3 is supposed too be no bigger than the s2, bigger screen is achieved by a thinner surround

Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2

I meant s3 looks awesome. It doesn't look much smaller than the note but now I've had the note for a few months the screen seams normal. Wen using a mates iPhone the screen just looks so small and unclear compared.

S3 is physically bigger than the S2.

I quite often watch netflix on my S2 and the screen seems the right size for doing so comfortably

I have an s2 and will be getting an s3

Things to maybe consider are samsungs relationship with google, my ICS update was 2 months earlier than my mates sensation. Also there seems to be a growth in NFC if this spurts and the whole world has it and you dont a 2 year contract could be a ball ache

As for form over function look at the rear of the s2, thin terrible plastic, however good reception and fits nicely in your pocket
