re-map debate(detection of)

Hi Stan, Revo is, in my opinion, THE best performance software available for VAG cars.

Neil had a tuning box on his old Ibiza and when he changed to Revo the difference was instantly noticeable. More power & torque and the car felt far more responsive.

Revo is basically a performance software program which is loaded onto the original ecu through the OBD port. It does not require any soldering or tampering with the ecu and is undetectable by VW etc...

Price varies depending on which engine you have but is typically

They will find it if looking. If non-switchable only need to drive it!!!

Is it just me or does the first post sound like it should have been a PM instead of a forum thread? :)

Steve

A conversation with my local Skoda Mech revealed that under normal servicing they would not notice it.

But if they went digging it would be found. Altho a test drive would be noticeable that it was quicker.

I would ahve thought any tampering (mechanical, or programme) would be found should (say an insurance company) want to check that the car had not been mod'd. Say after an accident for example - when they don't feel like paying out etc.....

I think your right steve,

If it is a PM, it's from a REVO dealer according to the signature. He is claiming that the REVO software is undetectable. I think trading standards would be interested in statements like that!

Steve

Its an add designed to look like a fumbled pm/email.

:nono: if it's an ad. Who's got a big red button to delete??

and is undetectable by VW etc...

Might be undetectable by VW, but Audi can defo detect them!

Steve

It was a thread in a different forum that was not being read so i posted it on a more popular forum for comments/help....it may not look the way i thought it would ..so don't shoot the messenger we are not all computer whiz kids...

So are you Stan, Neil, or the dealer, Cyberskidz?

You don't have to be a whizzkid to add a little explanation to your post - as it is, as others have mentioned, it looks like a blatant advertisement.

Do you have REVO on your car perchance?

I copied his post ...the top one....with my reply...the bottom one... thought it would turn out differently than it did...think people are too quick to punish genuine errors and mistakes once its posted its a bit late to change it.

I've edited the top post slightly to make it clearer. You can do the same next time - just click the "Edit" button at the bottom of the post.

To add some input, technically if you add a sticker you have modified you car, do you tell your insurance co?

No.

I understand your concern over warranty, however mine is heavily modified, I have a good relation with my local dealer and sense is always applied to any questions / issues.

I also have a good relationship with my local tuner who inspects the car from time to time from a different aspect to that of the dealers.

They know the car is remapped, but have replaced elements aorund the engine as they are known issues regardless.

The caveat here is in Europe you can get TUV approved remapping from your dealer, the UK is a mire of red tape. A non invasive safe remap should not cause you a loss of sleep on your warranty.

Hey it's a SKODA, a premier car maker of many years and now ahead of any otehr in the VAG group for quality and customer satisfaction. I brought it knowing it could take some abuse and still work each morning.

99% of warranty issues is down to your dealer relationship and the nature of the issue. Take the micky and expect nothing, if your relationship s not good, move dealers.

Some dealers will enter a cold sweat at the very mention of performance tuning, others will actively promote it; thumbs up to them, did wonders for Subarau.

The major tuners in the UK now do tuning via the OBD. If your really worried turn it off with the SPS I unit. Just don't disable the ECU *blush* as that will get them asking very awarked questions and hence they find out it's not exactly the same chip as when it left the factory. Let me clarify, I had invasive chip surgery performed on mine (previous owner had superchips), so my ecu is well outside warranty. If it gets mositure penetration and fries it, I have no recourse, you would with OBD tuning IMHO as the ECU seal is untouched.

Hope this helps...as to dectable ultimatly the answer is yes...but the reality is only if you mention it / test drive, normal servicing should not find it up expect to check it, and it's approved in Europe which I think we are a part of...you can see where I'm going with this..this year can't you? ;)

Simple way to measure if the car is tuned is to take it out for a drive and measure the boost pressure. Proper tuners will nearly if not allow modify the boost level.

Simple way to measure

If its a furby, the big black cloud gives away a remap

If done wrong yes but air to fuel ratio is increased. I would of said if you had a tuning box the above statement is correct as it injects more fuel and no more air.

Besides it maybe more mucky but we pay less road tax :D

If done wrong

take it you've not seen a remapped furby then?
