Air Con in Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

I recently had my air con re-gassed and cleansed at the Skoda dealers. Since having it done it doesn't seem to get the cars temperature very cool. Normally I would expect to get out of an air conditioned car and to feel warmer when I get out, however I actually felt cooler when I got out the other day.

I had the air con on for at least 40 minutes (mainly motorway driving) on a minimum fan setting of 2.

Does anyone have the same problem or know of any possible solutions to make the air con work better?

Thanks

Return it to them to test. If they have not gassed the aircon correctly by putting a vacuum through the system it will not accept the correct amount of gas etc and be just working poorly? Does the compressor cut in when aircon put on?

Try calling them as they may offer to check all is ok without a fuss.

I've found the Fabia just has really pants aircon. I've had mine checked, regassed and it still just has issues trying to lower the ambient to 'cold' when it's hot outside. I've just accepted it now. Would love to know someone else with one to check how well theirs works in this heat.

Mine seems to work just great! Wsa out yesterday afternoon. Outside temp reading 27 and I had goosebumps on my arms! lol

Maybe with mine being a Seat coming from Spain it works better in hot climates!? :)

The only difference I can think of is that mine has Climate control. What settings are you using on the controls?

I had mine (06 plate) re-gassed about 8 months ago at the dealer as it wasn't doing the job last summer and it's the same again now it's hot again, useless!

Originally the air-con on all the three Fabias I've owned - none with climate control just the manual adjust type - has been fridge like.

I'm going to take it to an independent garage next week.

this is the time when the AC repair/Mobile shops are busy as hell lol

I suffer the same hot weather cooling issues....

Mine was re gassed last week and it feels very cold in the car during this hot weather.

Suggest you read the topic "AIR CONDITIONING NOT WORKING?"

Thanks everyone... I managed to get my car to feel cool eventually in the hot weather but had to have it on full for a good 10 to 15 minutes for it to get the temperature down. to maintain it I then had to keep it on fan setting 2 with coldest setting.

Still wasn't happy with my air con performance so I have booked it on wednesday to have it checked for leaks

My Fabia has been re-gassed and it's still rubbish, one previous car I had, a Hyundi, the A/C when on was like the interior of a deep freeze.

My air con was freezing cold until recently I need to get it sorted as I can not go through a summer with no air con

Funny you mention that. We hired a car in Oz. It was a Hyundai Getz 1.6 and the A/C was arctic!

Anyone know how much regassing costs? Thanks.

I've paid around £55 in the past but Quick Fit occasionally have it on offer for circa £30

Personally I'd take it to a specialist, never a Main Stealer or a KwikFit type place.

Why? Well the specialist I use (AutoKool on J30 of the M1) have been on extensive courses and it is their ONLY business, so they need to know it inside our.

Definitely something wrong if it takes 30 minutes to get cold. Mines blowing cold after 30s (at most!).

Condenser?

Had problems here, just had new condensor fitted, new pump being fitted this week as did not solve the problems. Was leaking almost from new.

My previous car, a 16 year Volvo 850 had ice cold aircon and wasn't gassed in 5 years.

I blame it on cheap components personally.

I got mine done for 29 during winter by kwikfit it's cheaper during winter no issues with mine it's quite good.

Is there a pre filter or does it go through a cabin filter etc? Could be blocked?
