312 Brake Pads

Featured Replies

I know these are Skoda Octavia 1 or Audi TT, but if I was to order a new set how would I order them to make sure theat they were 100% correct. What are the Pads on My Octavia 2. Thanks in advance.

I dont understand, are you asking which pads are for the Octavia MK1 or MK2?

One assumes the word my in the OP should be MK?

Which leads me to ask if the OP is querying whether MK1 & MK2 Octavia pads are compatible? If that is indeed the case then No!

Simples :)

Sorry, now I've read what I put it sounds Stupid. I knew what I was thinking so wrote as I pondered. My Fabia VRS runs 312 Brakes, so it got me wondering, when I need to replace the Pads what do I order. I believe they are the same as an Octavia mk1 and the TT, but at any time through the years did they change. The second part was, on my Octavia mk2 are they different pads from the ones on my Fabia now. ---- 312's

Ohhhh I get ya. Just order 312mm MK1 Octavia pads, all the 5x100 pcd setups are the same so you could order TT, Leon, S3 or octavia setup discs & or pads.

Thanks Matt, its so easy, --- when you think about what your writing, and not writing what you think.

Order ferrodo ds2500 pads for a mk1 octy vrs.... You will never go back to inferior pads again i promise

Amen to that.

I am going to go for EBC Red Stuff pads as they are cheaper but I have no idea which ones to order :S

I was told just to buy 312mm skoda octavia brake pads.. but I'm on this website and there are loads at different prices :/

Help would be greatly appreciated as I am in urgent need of pads and can't afford to order the wrong ones :S

Cheers Everyone!

I personally have taken a vow never to touch EBC pad's again, I had a set on my Classic Mini and that was only running 110bhp and the pad's didn't even last 3 months with just being used on the road.

Now Mintex pad's on the other hand I'd use all the time, had a set on my father's car and I checked them nearly ever year for him coming to MOT time and they still had plenty of life left in them, just replaced them now (only after changing disc's and pad's to uprated Mintex items) after 4 year's since being fitted and still had half the meat left on the pad's

It was pointed out a while ago that DS2500 don't meet Reg 90 spec, so are technically not road legal. They state 'For Track Use Only' on the box. I have also heard that they can squeal when cold.

BTW I have EBC pads all round and don't have any problems stopping.

Thanks for both your inputs guys! I am under the impression that the DS2500 are insanely good, but the EBC Red Stuff will satisfy my budget and road legal needs as I have my MOT coming up soon and I presume they will be looked at and I don't want to fail and then fork out for some EBC after.. But I may have to purchase a set of DS2500 another time to give them a proper go sometime in the future, maybe after my MOT and for track day times ;)

Many thanks Southy & Jim

If I could pester either of you to clarify for me if these are the correct ones to buy for my 312mm brakes that would be greatly appreciated!

I hope these are the correct ones..

Thanks :)

I`m 99% sure they are, although i`v not heard of a 150bhp TT but i`d have thought they had 312`s. The awesome site is awful to navigate, lists no pads for an octavia lol. Saying that, I can also personally vouch for how **** poor EBC stuff is, had some green stuff pads when I frist got my 312`s, they were awful. If your not going mental just get some decent Mintex pads or something. If your fancying DS2500`s (yes they are as good as everyone says) then get them, MOT man wont be taking your pads out to check what make they are.

i had the same problem.. i just ordered a set of greenstuffs for my vrs without thinking.. i now have a set of £55 greenstuff pads in the shed for standard brakes!! i now have the correct greenstuff pads which imo are more friendly with road use than redstuffs as its hard to maintain the heat that the redstuffs need to operate unless u drive it like u stole it everywhere.... i have found the redstuffs to squeal like a piggy too.. i run drilled and grooved disks though so the heat does disperse a little quicker and i do go through pads a bit quicker but hey ho thats the price to pay to have good brakes!! i just punched 'tt 225 ebc' into ebay to get the right ones in the end...

What pads are you running? I am only swaying towards the EBC as they are so much cheaper.. but I don't want to have crap pads :p I can't afford the DS2500 ones to be honest.. so either mintex, or the Ferodo DS performance ones. I don't really want any that squeal as my fabia is my daily driver and any squealing would do my head in!

Just priced up some DS2500 'track' pads on www.europerformance.co.uk and for both the front and rear they have come to £234.89.

However the DS Performance 'street' on the same website for both the front and rear came to £182.56.

For my budget at the moment the £60 makes all the difference tbh.. so would these satisfy my needs? Or is it just worth buying the DS2500 as they are that good?!

Cheers for everyones input into this.. Just wanting to make the best decision

Yup!

Cheers Matt! I shall now clarify these as my weapon of choice

Both front and rear Mintex m1144 pads for £167.28.. not bad?

Cheers everyone

Hi - slight thread resurrection - am thinking of buying some M1144's and discs from LK like you did and was wondering what feedback you could give. Cheers

Hey buddy no worries,

The brake pads are excellent with plain pages disks.. But LK performance on the other hand.. Possibly one of the worst companies I have ever delt with.. Product was 9 weeks late, took me forever to get any sure response and action, and they didn't even seem to care and awful customer services.. So basically.. Great pads but find another company and call them to check if they have stock ready to go as mintex pads are hand made to order and so can take weeks to arrive. There was another company I found that do them, I will try and find a link and post it on here :)

Also.. Make sure you chose octavia front pads if you have 312's ;)

Blimey! Thanks for the heads up, good job I asked. LK's pricing seemed very good to me - a good 20% less than most anywhere else
