Should I swap for red?

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

So I currently own a silver vrs with 69k on the clock, and I love the car but hate the colour!! I got it at trade prices my sister works at a car garage ;) but now I have the opportunity to swap it for a red 55 plate with 86k on? It has a few extras that mine doesn't for example xenons ;)

What do you reckon?

If yours goes well and doesn't give you any problems/bills then I think you'd be foolish to swap it.

Imagine how you would feel if the red one turned out to be lemon!

Xenon's can be retro-fitted for just over £200.

yeah, If the one u got now goes ok and has no probs, i'd keep hold of it. You rarely get to pick colour when buying a car unless you go new of course.

If you want a red one, swap it... Simples

Original xenons!! That's the only reason I'd need to swap. ;)

Spray your silver one Red or Wrap it, Have a Black roof or Bonnet

Simples

I'd like to see where you can retrofit xenons for 200 quid! Last time I looked on xenon projector headlight from the stealers was £220. Plus for xenons you need, headlight washers, bigger 5 litre washer bottle and a level sensor on the back axle I think. Pretty sure it costs about a grand!

I hunted for 5 months to get a red one that met all my criteria and like you ended up with a silver one, now, I wouldn't swap for a red 'un 'cos it's grown on me. The only negative I have about the silver is that it's not so easy to blend in any paint work.

I tend to agree with the, "if it ain't broke don't fix it" sentiment, so, stick with what you know/have.

If you can't live without the red, get it wrapped as Auric Goldfinger suggests, at least you will know all the cars foibles/problems then.

Go for what you want mate. I'd personally swap if I liked red and had silver.

im in the market for xenon can you link to where this is

much obliged

i have a red one and a silver one.... the birds like to poop on the red one for some reason... this has been the case with every red car i have ever owned.. just something to bear in mind if u do swap.. and mine has the wrapped black roof/bonnet combo but am seriously considering peeling it off, seems every bugger has a black bonnet and or roof these days..

Eh? You always get a choice when buying a second hand car?

If you want a red car, buy a red car. Screw having a car you don't like the look of just because it's mechanically working as it should.

Yea I guess I just have to weigh up how much the colour means, just a quick one as well, my average mpg resets every time I use the car? Is it supposed to? :S

trip 1 does i think but flick it to trip 2 and that one reads since it was last manually reset.. or the battery was removed..

Better the devil you know.

You could buy it and find its not been maintained as well as yours.

I have usually found theres only one reason people want to swap a car, and thats because it wont sell.
