Octavia 3 is ready says chief designer

Featured Replies

The overall length was already roughly known, but the November launch date is a major annoyance. Looks like I need to find a good used 4wd one to tide me over for a couple of years.

  • Another excellent MQB platform article here: http://www.vwvortex.com/artman/publish/vortex_news/article_3038.shtml This one is focused on the golf 7, but should still apply nicely.

  • I Would be very surprised to see a new Octavia VRS before 2014!

  • Quite right, it'll be ages before we see a vRS if it's only launching next year - I hadn't thought of this. Think I'll go got that FL vRS I want now then, and let the rest of you kind souls get a MK3

Perhaps (Octavia) it will be a larger version of the new Rapid - which is a very nicely styled car. They have gone for classic conservative styling for the Rapid - which will not date so rapidly as something more radical.

I guess the front will be similar but apparantely the rear end is completely different. I think we may be in for a surprise...

Some details have been released on Autocar's website

4.8m long though??? That's virtually Superb length isn't it?

One of the benefits of the currenty Octy for me is that it has a huge boot and half decent interior space in a not too big a footprint.

If the Octavia 3 becomes Superb size, does the next Superb get even bigger or does Skoda stop production of it?

Earlier indications were roughly halfway between the current octavia and the current superb.Currently the Superb is 4.84m and the Octavia 4.57m. There were some measurements on wheelbase for the Octy3 floating around, but they may just be speculation.Good article here if you read french. I'm just looking at the pictures:http://www.automobil...koda_octavia_33
