Never been convinced about red but we've just had a new Fabia in red and I really like it!

I had a Fabia vRS MK2 in Red and thought it was a fabulous colour.

Tempted to get my next vehicle in that colour...

Was never going to buy a red one even when I saw pics of some here but a buddy of mine told me of a red one in a dealers quite close to me I decided to have a look and was smitten with it. Had to have it. That one had the new Alcantara interior which in my opinion made a circus out of the car. Too much red going on everywhere.

As above, Red was Never going to be my choice, I was an inch away from ordering rally green but the red won the battle of choices when I saw it.

My Mk1 was red, great colour and looked stunning when cleaned and polished.

If I hadn't gone for the estate this time, I would have stuck with it, but to me the estate looks great in blue....

The only drawback I had with mine was the spoiler used to fade and needed regular treatment (loads of polishing...) to keep it looking the same as the rest of the car.

Steve

You can now spec folding mirrors?

Bugger! Too late for me, cheers Skoda UK! :@

ETA: Apparently not, just been on the configurator and checked the brochure and it's not an option - unless you've got a clever dealer 'friend'?

Steve

I would assume with the newer paint system this may be eliminated?

You can here in Ireland anyhow.

2. Electrically adjustable, heated and foldable door

mirrors with auto dimming and boarding-Spots - PW9

€ 168

Nice :) But some folk have far too much money...its not fair !!! :) :)

No xenons??

I don't know to be fair, the rest of the car stayed perfect with no fade, but the spoiler if not treated faded badly.

I guess paint tech is changing all the time so maybe it will be ok now.

There were rumours that they were made in different factories and sprayed in different places etc

Maybe it was different paint due to the type of plastic the spoiler was made from, I dunno.....

But even so, the red is a great choice

Good luck with new car, I'm dissapointed u went for red but everyone to there own, hopefully u sell it on handy in 2 years ;)

I'm dying to see a green one in Ireland :)

What was the best cash price u got?

Red looks great on the vrs, estate and hatch, mine was nearly 6 years old when I traded it and it was as red as when it was new.

Not at around 1,100 euro.

Will do a hid conversion again.

They suit me fine.

Can't really say here TBH

Corrida red is a really nice colour. My old MK I VRS was red but this time I'm going for White.

As others have pointed out, my spoiler also started to fade but I managed to get it back with lots and lots of polishing but it doesn't last long.

If someone wants to give me an exorbitant amount of cash for my 2011 in black then il be able to afford to go and buy a new white one :) Offers anyone??? :))

K:)

If I get another it'll be white or anthracite and for goodness sake SkodaUK do the folding mrrors on the vRS FFS!

That is truly shameless trying to flog on your VRS on here ............

btw anyone want my superior "Race Blue" 2011 VRS :rofl::bandit: so I can buy a house :wall:

Red cars do appear more susceptable to fading than other colours.

There are theories on UV, clearcoat, pigments etc. etc.

Do a Google search on it and you'll get loads of hits.

I found this rather thechnical explanation but there is loads of different theories as to why red seems to suffer to most.

"To understand why red paint fades faster than other colours, it's important to understand the physics and chemistry of what's happening. Firstly the simple (and correct) answer - "red paint works harder, and fades faster".

Firstly understand how colour works. White paint reflects all colours relatively equally, and probably lasts the longest. Non-white cars absorb some colours and reflect others. A rainbow is made when white light is split up into its individual colours. We know violet is the shortest wavelength and red is the longest wavelength.

Secondly, shorter wavelengths have more energy and violet light is more energetic than red. As red paint absorbs all the more energetic wavelength of light, and other colours less so, then clearly red paint will fade fastest.

All things being equal, black paint should fade the most because it's absorbing all the colours that red is, AND it's absorbing red too. However, here's where the chemistry comes in, I'm going to speculate that black paint has a lot of black pigment derived from carbon-black, which is a relatively stable product (carbon, graphite, diamond, all the same thing, and all pretty stable!). Red pigment is almost certainly less stable than black pigments and this is also a contributory factor to red fade syndrome."

LOL

My current one is white and I am going for red :D

I was so close to buying green but as I could not view one i backed away as I was a bit unsure.

I rang Skoda dealers in the North Of Ireland and not one had a green one or had one on order. I rang Skoda Ireland and they could not help me view one.

Rang Skoda UK and could get no reply.

So went to my local and saw the red and decided there and then it was going to be a red one for me.

OH

Maxidot is standard as is Bluetooth as is full spare wheel. Reversing sensors.. Auto lIghts..Aoto wipers.. Cruise..Rain sensor window closing..

We get near everything standard here lol I see lots of uk spec cars for sale here and most don't even have maxidot.

Vectra, spec the headlamp washers, they will complete your HID conversion.

You decided not to bother with the sound system ?

Red is of course the best colour but then i am biased!

BTW, it doesn't fade at all although there doesn't seem to be any clearcoat on the spoiler so that is something to keep an eye on.
