Nothing ever simple....

Featured Replies

Driving the car fully warmed up full fuel etc etc entering the motorway in Blackpool, got to about 60 mph and bang! Stopped in tracks with EML and EPC + Maxidot reading "Engine Stop/Fault Workshop" loss of all power and rolled to a halt at the bottom of the slip road with the car physically shaking (so much so you could feel it)...

Restarted the car and all seemed fine so set off on my merry way got to about 50/60 and the EML came on flashing then vanished...

Car was running ok sound wise but was noticeably down on power so limped to my mates house and called Skoda Assist...

Now the interesting part:

They plugged in the diag tool and it came back with "No Fsults Found" and car now running as expected...

So my question... Where do I go from here?? SA suggested dealer but with no proof what can they do?

Maybe best go to whoever does your Mods & RE-sets for you.

Difficult one, because you have not said what state of tune or mods you are running it in.

Do you have a Box fitted or settings outwith anything that is standard or factory set.

Its fair enough having Boxes or Re-maps that do not show or give away to a Scan, but then they are maybe then not showing their faults.

good luck with it.

From what others have said in different posts it is unlikely that the dealer will be unlikely to be able to do much if the computer says no! But if they are decent they should still give it a once over and at least then there would be a record of the start of the problem, along with the SA call out. Then when/if it crops up again I'd be taking photo's of the dash to show that there is something there.

Best of luck

Didn't realise that you had mods, sa as above says, maybe a quick call to the modder may be helpful first.

I'm completely standard... Considered mods but nothing done...

Edit - have got an XDS setting change (within VW settings) but nothing that affects the engine..

Surprised that you need someone else to find the fault for you when you already knows what causes or does not cause faults!

If you make the Workshop Manager or the technician aware of what has been done then,

they will know where they are starting from and be able to ignore that someone has been in changing settings if it is not relevant

or liable to be related to the fault you have.

(save them wasting time messing about looking for things that are not relevant 'because they do not effect the engine via the ecu's')

But he doesn't, hence the request for help

Brimma

were you one of those kids at school and stood and shouted .'fight fight' and then cleared off?

Not at all, you're just not helping

so what is your helpful advice to his predicament other than picking at my choice of advice?

Ah c'mon kiddies.. Take this elsewhere. Back to topic!

When you said bang do you mean a bang sound or it is a figure of speach? If bang is a figure of speech and not an actual sound then your problem may be caused by fuel filter or fuel pump that got blocked by some dirt, or maybe weak fuel. I am not sure but I think fuel filter is not monitored by sensors. Interesting though that ECU didn't kept any error codes.

Bang as in sudden deceleration (felt like hitting a wall)

Get it! May be something with fuel / fuel circulation etc... Hope everything goes fine

OK - you got to 60mph but in what gear and what rpm?

Mine decided (for the first time in several months) to go all EPC/lights/fail to accelerate on the Autobahn last week - but I was in "S" and about to hit redline in 5th...I suspect that might not flag anything up "out of the ordinary" rather than no fault codes at all? I did a restart (at 80mph  ) and all was fine again for the next 100 miles (although not at >100mph..).

I had Skoda assistance out to my VRS a few months ago, it was for engine management warning lights that briefly lit up, The car lost all power and it was like some one had slammed on the brakes it went into limp mode and I pulled over and restarted it a few minutes later with no problems.

The skoda guy was spot on, he run a diagnostic check with his lap top and quickly found the fault, it was a wire pulling on a connector that controls the engines fuel pressure solenoid. His knowledge of VAG engines was brilliant, he sorted out the problem no fuss. I hope this helps?

Also sounds a little like the problems I had with a misfire. It started off with no fault messages then developed into a proper misfire over the following month or so.

it doesnt help with your si****ion but in future or for any1 else, we all carry phones so if it does it, photo the dash as proof so they dont think your loopy

hope its a 1 off mate or you get some final solution, intermittent problems are a nightmare

OT I know, but I think the swear filter has gone a bit OTT preventing the word si****ion being seen in full

i noticed that lol, its a poor si****ion when you can't use it

Presumably it thinks "tuat" is the same as "****". What will it do with that?

Oh well it just gets better :/

Driving down the M62 and beep "Check Oil Level" (car was serviced 1000 miles ago)...

Got straight on the phone to Simpsons who have booked it in immediately.

I think I'm going to make a call to SUK aswel as I'm getting ever so slightly hacked off with this now...

What was the oil level when you checked it now,

and did you check it hot after it came from them doing the oil change to know that it was correct?

Did you check the Oil at the last incident this week?

george

I'd be right on their case (always happens on a Friday??) - I expect to be doing nearly 1000 miles a week when mine arrives. Got me worried now..

They do a thousand miles a week easily and do not use oil, they do 1000 miles in a day OK.

but if you pull in after a 200 mile blast or maybe even just 100 miles

its worth letting it cool its self down then turn off the engine and dip the oil just to check.
