Park Assist retrofit on Octavia II possible?

Featured Replies

You guys say it's no problem for a non-fl but does it have electrically assisted steering? I mean, I know about the ABS pump and all but how will it steer on its own?

No

New parking module, 2x front side sensors, 2nd parking button and some wiring

I'm interested in this, mainly as a wow factor and wife pleaser. My wife would go wild I think. Once I find out how much though, I think it will be on the backburner....

My ABS module is 1K0 907 379 BD so that would need replacing. Where would you get a new module from and how much, old posts suggest £1000+

I've got front OPS, but 2x new side sensors must be about £80+ depending on where you find them.

New switch for activation and cabling £40+

New Parking Assist controller - mine is 1Z0 919 475 E, so guessing £50

Edit: I have maxidot already.

All above is my guessing, so please correct me.

So, the main problem is the ABS controller with everything adding up to near £1200 at my guess. Can it be done cheaper? A lot cheaper otherwise, the wife will have to wait... a long, long time!

@TheClient, a used ABS module can be had much cheaper than that - I think the BJ rev I fitted was closer to £80.

You might want to consider PLA 2.0, it needs a different module, two more sensors on the front and replacement rear ABS sensors.

I think it add's 90 degree parking, for instance in a supermarket car park for extra wow.

ABS pumps can be picked up quite cheaply

PLA2 is not worth spending extra on the parts and you have more chance of things not working (you need the highest software on the cluster too)

OK thanks both. Good idea about PLA 2.0, but as funds are always tight and it is probably more novelty value,  the parallel one would be ok I think.

So are these ok second hand ebay etc as new they are pricey aren't they?  Do they suffer from the integrated pressure sensor defect problem and you risk buying a faulty one?

Not sure about sourcing the other parts either, is it just a case of scouring the internet? Are the side sensors exactly the same as the front OPS ones. The front OPS items on my vehicle have 4HO 919 275 part numbers on them.

Thanks again.
