Octavia VRS TDI CR, remap. Has anyone had it done?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Im new to forum but have owned an octavia vrs for a while now.

I keep reading things about getting it remap, as I have the TDI, (as I can not afford to run petrol) the standard out put as you all know is 170bhp, iv been told a remap will put this up to 200bhp. But also up torque, which be hardy for when I tow with it, and a remap is also ment to improve on mpg.

So has any body had it done, and if so has it made a difference? If so what? Also what remap have you had done and were?

Sorry for all the questions. I live in Northamptonshire, so if anyone near me and knows a place that be awsum!!

I had my old cr remapped by SP Tuning nr Hinckley which isn't so far from there. It felt a pretty good map, made 204bhp and 315ish lbs on their rolling road. I don't have anything else to compare it against though. You don't say how old your vrs is. If it's one of the later ones it will probably be an ecu out job. Mine old one was obd port as it was 58 reg.

Yes, I have. My Butt dyno reckons about 200bhp and around 280-290lbft. Tho' Id reckon a standard car is about 180bhp to start with.

My old Vrs did 210bhp / 305 lbs on a bluefin, I was going to swap it over but I don't think I will now :( (see my other post )

It's not. They are usually pretty close to what's quoted. Mine was 172 and should of been 168bhp.

I have seen 2 170CR's on same machine run 10bhp apart 6 month age difference one had 12000 miles one had 1500 miles the non run in one came in at 175.something the one with a bit more ground covered 185.something. Bar that they were identical cars down to the paint colour and options both on normal Esso diesel ( that was multiple runs each ). In the 1.9PDTDi in Fabia VRS there was some variation 130bhp it was meant to be some came in 150 on the BTL engine codes mine 152 and 152.3bhp on 2 different dynos before remapped. 173.3 after.

In answer to OP mine is running sweet I had it done mine was the one done at 1500 miles (hit 1500 on the drive to get it done) 6 weeks old I did a 900 mile drive across Europe before that aswell and got 49mpg with just me in car and a bag of clothes. On return leg same 900 mile drive back across Europe with another adult in car my stuff and theirs and a big air con unit in the boot and a pile of other heavy stuff I got 53mpg. Obviously the car was still running in but the immediate result after for me was a slight increase in MPG so I was fairly impressed but as it was a long drive (in a oner each way) and some speed limits of approx 85mph it wasn't the most economical of trips anyway. Have had 58mpg on long runs since and car still only has 6800 miles on it.

Tonight I did a run across town (cold engine warm day) for pizza approx 15 miles round trip and normaly I average 37-42mpg on that trip as I have my winter wheels on while some monkey is destroying my normal rims I got 52.6mpg 205/55/16's (M&S all season tyres) :D I am seriously not in a rush to take them back off now lol. Many report better mpg when winter wheels on.

Just because it was same rollers doesn't necessarily make them comparable. A variety of factors could affect the outcome readings and accout for a variation. In my opinion rolling roads are useful for before and after figures to determine the increase in bhp/lbs when used by the same operator and back to back runs but otherwise treat with pinch of salt.
