+1 to above

I'd go through the Insurance and hopefully the increase in his premium might teach him a lesson,

Pleased to hear no one was Injured

I would of wrapped something round his head. Sorry to hear and see this mate.

always best not to go via insurance if possible due to it putting both parties insurance up but gutted for you mate.

i would still have it booked into a body shop for a quote and get the youth to pay the bill i wouldnt do any work myself.

So would I.

Not your fault, why should you have the hassle?

Lee - the previous owner put the cooler on, not done a great job on the pipe work to be honest. Might try and neaten it all up a bit when it's in pieces

Danny - he tried getin puppy so I verbally put him right in his place. There were people around and obv I want money off him

Huxley - I was extreamly egar to peel back the damage and see what I was left with. Mechanically the cars fine exept the sensor off the boost pipe so now the boost pipe effectively has a whore in, new sensor on and will be sweet

Cheers for the replies and concerns everybody. Appriciated

Fair enuf mate. keep it well documented incase he tries to pull a fast one.

I would go through his insurance and when its sorted then give him a good slap round the ear hole for being a **** driver

Lol- Amazing how we forget how crap we all were at 17 but can remember how good we thought we were!

How bad was the young lad's car? I'm sure the damage to his will make him remember that bend in future!

All part of the learning- every day's a school day.

at least he made a mistake this way "bad luck for you i know" but could have ended up in a tree and 6 foot under.....we all make mistakes and think we are god at 17

damn heat breaker </3

all the best dude and hope your alright

Be very wary of his offer to pay, when he finds out the full cost of the repair he may want to back out of the agreement - it happened to me many years ago - then you will have no option but to go the insurance route. By this time you will have probably worked on your car and the insurance people may not be too keen to fully assist with your claim.

I would, as previously mentioned, get a body shop quote ASAP with the added cost of a courtesy car and present a copy of the quote to the other party for immediate payment, that way you will know where you stand before getting too involved in repairing it yourself and then being left to foot the bill and having to take the other party to a small claims court.

DB.

Wow, you managed to pick up a whore from a crash? Now that's big pimpin' right there ;)

But seriously, hope you get it sorted soon.

As far as i'm aware on single track roads if there is an accident its knock for knock if you have a crash. His insurance pays for his damage and your insurance pays for yours. So good job you aint going through the insurance as it would have stung you nasty!

That's **** pal I would have killed the little ****. There was a red vrs bumper on eBay in red!

But he's admitted it was his fault, " Yes I was driving like a **** "

Insurance jobbie, make him pay

The End

is that definitely the case?

on confused.com i was putting in hypothetical situations into the quote generator including putting things like multiple £40,000+ past insurance claims for accidents that were my fault and it only put the price up from about 600 to 750.

Problem is people all-too-often say this, then as soon as they realise how much the repairs actually cost try to wriggle out of it - or suddenly they've got a mate who can repair it, and other various BS. Will definitely cost much less to repair than the amount it would send his insurance up over the next few years though.

Did that set the airbags off?

Sorry to see this, hope you get it sorted.

I work in insurance - its knock for knock even if he was driving like a ****. Thats why I said its a good thing he siad he'd pay!

Crash sucks mate, hope it's all fixed ASAP....

On a different note, wow that's a lot of inter cooler pipe work, I'm impressed that the turbo can actually shift enough air to build up over a bar of pressure in that lot lol.
