Volf's Darkside Octavia Mk2 - End of the road *Stripping for parts!*

After some thought today, I have decided that I am no longer going to keep the car.

In due time I will be stripping it down and selling parts off onto eBay.

It's been fun yes, but I think it's time to move on now. I've started a new full time job in Gatwick and as boring as it is, It's probably time for something more sensible.

  • Track day successful. Didn't blow up or slide off. But got black flagged on the first outing for being too loud.

  • "Surely with that set up you get rubbish MPG" You'll be surprised when it's not on boost all the time.       In other, once I've got the body work/rusty bits sorted...

Sensible doesn't mean boring

At the moment, a bit strapped for cash. So plan is to get a cheap diesel motorway pounder and save the pennies until I can afford something better.

I did think about finding a Fabia VRS, But I don't have the money for one right now. Maybe next year. :)

One Passat B5 estate, 1.9TDi 90, 236k (Barely ran in!) £300  Just have to run it for the year and should of have enough money saved by then for something nice.

Now for the stripping of the Octi. Still a bit sad about it all, but things change.

Be sad to see this put back to standard, looked awesome. Did the problem get sorted for the running issue as well?

Running issue was never solved.

Will be stripped of the good parts (Turbo, FMIC, hardpipes, Airlift) and then the shell put on eBay as breaking for bits for a while. And then scrapped.

That's a real shame, was hoping you would manage to get it sorted. Was one of my favourite Octavia's.

Time will tell what's next. Think I need a break from modifying cars for a while, whilst I focus on my new job (That and the blood sweat tears and heartache sometimes isn't worth it)

The next phase would of been : Sell the airlift, coil overs, wider wheels, wide arch it, massive BYC spoiler ( Which was in progress, but had to tell the guy to not make the finished item!  )

I can fully understand why you don't want to mod the next car. Nothing wrong with having a standard car either. I've been thinking of packing in modding myself lately and just getting something standard. Maybe a break will do you some good. I'm sure you'll end up modding again in the future tho haha.

Damn, that would have been seriously epic. I've been thinking about a wide arch kit but time and money wouldn't allow it to happen.

My itchy fingers are looking forward to treating this battered work horse to some TLC. It's seen some miles and a bit rough around the edges. So will be good to do a patch up. I learn by doing and I've learnt a lot from the Octi, should be able to hand most of those things I've learnt to the Passat.

The Octi has been quite epic already. :) Don't think I'll have another car featured on an advertisement campaign any time soon! It's had it's high points and low, but as mentioned, Started new full time work in Gatwick and I need something to mash the miles, be comfy and be more reliable.

Man that is an absolute tragedy, so much love and attention gone into this car :(

Still, a fresh project when you can start one could be good for the soul!

Well... Erm. That didn't take long!

About 84k miles on it. One year younger than the other one. Like for like! Just this one has cruise control.

Won't put air on it, as cool as it was, it was too much hassle.

Yeah it's really clean. Can't find anything wrong with it. (Bar the front springs looking quite rusted) But those will be going soon.

Mostly engine parts, Turbo, FMIC, Pipes etc... Maybe part of the rear badge and replace it with a 1.2MPi badge  Bwhahah

Good to hear, make it a bit of a sleeper :D will shock a lot of people. I know my Golf shocks a lot of people, i love it. I've been tempted to stick the 1.6 badge on mine :D

Will look forward to seeing update's on this then

I'm tempted to install some type of exhaust flap to keep it quiet... Until the taps open :tongueout:

But at the moment, Weather is cold, damp and I don't have a lot of time these days due to work. So will be a while until something happens.

That would be a cool option, I'd love to have a standard back box for normal driving then hit a switch and it turns a flap to a hidden straight through. That would be cool :D

I'm the same, work and then when you get home its to dark and cold to want to do anything else haha

I've been catching up on a few threads and it's good to see you've started another project.  Just out of interest, what wheels are on the silver car?  I've been toying with the idea of some Bola B1s but those look to be kind of similar.

I believe they are Axe Hiro wheels in 17", Originally they have a stainless steel lip to them.

Can't wait to see the progress on this one!

Managed to get my hands on a RossTech cable and scan the old Octi, since parking it up for the last time back in November last year.

On a scale of one to broken, where does it sit?
