Can anyone reccomend some sort of web hosting company..

im not after anything fancy really, just somewhere i can host stuff when the need arises.. pictures etc.. i dont even need a domain name.

I use 1&1

Good deal that Rob

http://www.cyberprog.net/?do=home have a very good reputation , and Alex is definately one of the good guys

15 quid for a year can't be sniffed at either.

I take it you don't get any space from your ISP?

I've been with 1&1 for years now, not had any trouble with them & I'm sure you can just tell them to take the money out of a different card instead?

Had it once where my credit card was maxed out, just rang them and sorted it, no problems at all?

Yes , thats what I had to do , but I shouldn't have had to when it was their fault not mine , and it took them a day to re-enable all my websites and email addresses

You should get a refund or a free month's worth for the hassle :)

They didn't want to know about my complaint and seemed keen to blame me for using a switch card.

I don't use them for hosting anyway , just domain registration/dns and email forwarding , so there was no monthly charge to try and get free.

I'd go down this route too, if it's an option. It's what I've done and I have no complaints - not least with more webspace than I can fill for free, and a a .co.uk domain for just 1 quid extra a month...

Bunch of clueless *******.

Would have to concur with you on that one.

Rob.

Different experience here then I suppose

I use easily for domain registration, they charge

Well, to their credit buying domains was pretty straightforward and without complication. It's just when it came to doing anything other than just leaving the domains there that it all fell apart. TBH though, I reckon I could probably count more companies where this is the case than where it's not these days...

For pics try www.imagestation.com or www.photoisland.com - both free. Imagestation supposedly gives you unlimited space.

Domain registration 123reg.co.uk - about 6 quid for 2 years on .co.uk - includes redirection etc.

Have a look at Webconexion - not cheap, but not excessively expensive, and excellent support and service when you need a bit of help.
