Citigo autolock/unlock. Can you or can't you?

Featured Replies

We are picking up my wife's Citigo on Saturday and I have been told by my dealer that my usual request for the doors to lock when the car is driven away (anti-hijack) and then all unlock when the ignition key is removed, can't be set up on the Citigo - unlike every other Skoda model!

Does anyone know any different?

See the VW up! forum thread here (Post No.8)

Page 24 of the owner's manual states:

Automatic locking and unlocking

All the doors and the boot lid are locked automatically once the car reaches a

speed of about 15 km/h.

If the ignition key is withdrawn, the car is then automatically unlocked again. In

addition, it is possible for the driver to unlock the car by pressing the central locking

button or by pulling the door opening lever.

Upon request you can have automatic locking and unlocking activated by a

ŠKODA Service Partner.

It doesn't say this on page 24 of my user manual!

Before I purchased my Citigo I read the manual posted at the top of the Citigo forum. I noticed it said that if you have the remote locking, auto locking can be activated. I asked for this when placing my order. So the dealer plugged in his computer at PDI and yes, I do have it working on my car. Just as on my previous Octavia Elegance 1.4TSI, it locks at about 10mph.

Just to add a point. Some dealers will charge up to £60 to do this as a separate item after delivery (robbery, when it is just a simple computer hook up and selection!) so I do recommend requesting this feature early on, just in case. Hope this helps.

Really?! I copied that from the manual that's been posted on this forum but I'm sure I read it in my hard copy manual too.

Just noticed your location, is your dealer MSB Skoda by any chance? I've had great service from them, and looking at the UP forum it seems there is some general confusion amongst dealers over whether autolock is possible - you could always ask the dealer to contact Skoda UK if they still think it can't be done.

My Smart has this, however i can turn it on or off by pressing the locking button on the dash at the same time as pressing the button on the remote key fob. Perhaps you can do this on the Citygo as well without the need for the dealer to do it?

The Smart comes from the dealer with the auto lock switched on,and i have never turned it off because i like it activated, but the instructions to turn it off are in the hand book.

Think this is mainly due that some dealers/salesmen don't know what there talking about or arn't clued up on the cars that they sell

To be fair I have a dealer car at the moment so will wait until Saturday when we pick up our car and then see what the brochure says......in the meantime I will mention to them that other folk have this option working!

Yes, my dealer is MSB Skoda - they are a really excellent dealer - now on my 18th car from them! I've never know a dealer Principal take so much interest in their customers and the after-sales team are equally as willing and keen to get things right, as are the sales team. Would recommend highly!

18?! Well that speaks for itself! The dealer experience was one of the reasons I bought the Citigo rather than an Up. MSB was the only dealer I visited who offered me a fair price for my trade in without me having to haggle, and where the staff were just straightforward and helpful and not in the least bit pushy. Really couldn't fault them.

This is a bit off topic, but I joined the Briskoda forum to assist with info on the auto locking which I had activated on my Citigo by my dealer. But does anybody know why I seem to be the only one that has mention of 0 warning points under my profile and how do I get this statement removed?

It's a personal thing, sign out and you don't see it.

Therefore no one else does see it, only you.

Who is your dealer? I might give them a ring (or get my dealer to do so) to see if they can shed some light!

Thanks.

Every one has a Warning Points Bar, only you can see your own. Be a good boy and you won't get any.

Update! Went back to my dealer this morning armed with further knowledge from Briskoda.......................to be greeted by the sales guy telling me that they have resolved the auto door locking issue! Result - looking forward to picking it up in the morning.

Thanks for everybody's input.

SM73 - Glad you got it sorted easily. My dealer was White Dove Skoda in Cardiff and the salesman, Christian Dorey, just noted it on the order after I mentioned it was in the manual and it was enabled.

Enjoy your new Citigo - they are practical, comfortable, cheap to run, and fun! Mine has covered 350 miles and is getting better by the mile. Apart from 1st to 2nd gear being very slightly ponderous (I believe this will improve after some more miles) the gears are now just like the proverbial 'knife through butter'. The overall package makes me think this is how the original mini would have turned out if it had been designed now!

Thank you MickA and Auric Goldfinger for your explanation re: warning points.

So can this be done by the owner or is it a garage jobby?

Dealer job it seems as there is no maxi-dot.

My '09 Octavia handbook implied the user could turn the running lights on/off (they were off by default at that time) by using various sequences of the controls - this did not work. The only way was via the dealers computer. I did not bother with activating this feature, but did opt for dealer to activate the autolock.

On the Up! forum one member has access to a VAG computer and was going to check what other features might be available on that car. Anybody using these forums know the answer regarding the Citigo?
