Dan's GTB1756 Powered Fabia VRS

The drivers side rear door was sealed today, used Uni Bond roof & gutter sealant. Was a horrible job and very messy but hopefully should cure the leaking door and moisture.

Also refitted the HIDs, can actually see at night now :)

Got lots of money that I want to spend on the car but being its Christmas / very cold I haven't really got much time / day light hours or motivation to get out there and fit them!

Bought these from HIDs direct the other day

Fitted them and they look quite good! Very HID like.

Drivers side rear door will be sealed tomorrow morning.

Also looking into a Jetex cone filter to replace the air box now, should look quite cool under the bonnet!

Aha glad you took my advice! Mine are going strong must have been 18 months now! They were the first thing I brought for my car. Got them in high and low on mine. Got a set of Joms to fit to mine plus powerflex console bushes and will be needing spacers just like yours!

That's good to hear! They do look very HID like against standard bulbs but still look quite yellow if you have HIDs, I guess your never going to get standard bulbs to match HIDs unless you get a kit!

I think bushes is something I'm going to have to do in the future :)

Will hopefully get that fitted on Thursday evening, hopefully shouldn't take too long.

Also a couple of pics of the footwell lighting I wired in a few weeks ago...

You own a hoover?

lol

Some great mods there Dan, looks sweet, although would have the pre-FL lights on myself.

I love the red vRS when modded, looks awesome!

You get anywhere with Seat surgeons in the end?!? Can't decide to go hybrid or leather next myself!

Thanks very much mate, I've thought about it and then tinting the clear bits in those but that would mean stripping back the tint and it's a proper tidy job to be honest so would be a shame to waste it :)

Thanks mate, I'm glad I held out to find a red one!

Didn't get anywhere in the end, had a read around and your looming around £800 for a re-trim, I just thought I'd keep my eye out for any leather than comes up for sale. I'm half tempted to go hybrid but it's a lot of cost then added expense of clutch, mapping, fitting and intercooler for not alot of Bhp!

I'm not really sure what to do to it next, it will have a service from Dirty Torque soon then I will get the cambelt changed :)

Yeah it is a lot but can't see me ditching this car for a while now so want it to have a bit more..... Reading all those other threads about 7k cars or hot hatches makes me realise how few cars there are out there that I would actually swap my little Furby for.

Hi Dan,

Loving what you've done so far, given me quite a few ideas! I'm currently at the point of lowering mine, I had coilovers (KW-V2's) on my previous car and they were awesome but the ride wasn't that comfortable for a daily driver. What's it like on yours, because I'm tempted to just get some 40mm lowering springs instead? :-D

I'd like to think that mines a keeper too! But in always optimistic in thinking that I may get into a better paid job or something like that. I'd really love to own a petrol with boost, a Megane R26 or mk1 Focus RS :)

Hi Sharpy,

Thanks very much mate, it's taken a while but I'm finally happy with the way it looks now. I don't mind my car as such for a daily driver, it's quite harsh but then again I'm very low so a compromise has to be made.

If I were you I would go minimum for a shock and spring setup, I'd never be inclined to fit lowering springs to standard shocks, a mate did something similar and his was very bouncy! Also the springs for the VRS only lower it 25mm on Eibachs or 30mm on H&R springs, while it does make a noticeable difference it just wasnt enough IMO of course.

There was a thread lurking where a lad had fitted a shock & spring setup on his and it sat absolutely perfect!

Yours was a damn fine example but I'm sure they are very costly to run which is why I couldn't justify it at the moment. Maybe in my mid 20s :)

Dan I think the shock spring combo you are on about is the Vogtland setup a user on here bought from DPM performance I think. I did consider that option myself but went for coilovers as iv never used coilovers before, always been a spring shock combo on all of my previous cars. HTH sorry for clogging your thread up bud!

Ahh yes that rings a bell as I thought it was quite a strange brand, ill like to see how they ride but I'm currently on coilovers too, the ability to be able to adjust them is great too :)

Not to worry mate :)

On my last set of coilovers the ride comfort was adjustable but even on the softest setting you felt as if you were on a trackday. Don't get me wrong, it was great to know you could throw it into almost any corner and it corner as if it were on rails but day to day it was just not comfortable. I think this time I'll go for the shocks & springs, doesn't effect my chances of resale either :whew:

I saw that thread on Vogtland shocks and springs too, he had a nice sporty look without it looking non-OEM.

Thanks for your help mate!

My brother has Vogtland shocks and springs on his octy. They give a nice drop and handles really well

I've got the KW shock and spring set up on mine which I'm really impressed with from DPM

I've thought about getting some shocks and springs myself but I just love the look of being low although it is sometimes unpractical. But your right shocks and springs would be alot better come resale rather than coilovers.

Does look like a nice drop, very subtle and practical! Speaking of Octys I keep looking at 17" spiders for mine!

You should. They do look good on the fabia :-)

They are very nice but I'm hoping that a set of 17" LM reps will come up for sale or be released at some point. Can find them in 16" & 18" only! They all seem to skip 17" :(

I've noticed that too and 18s are too big :-(

  • Author

These guys used to do them in reps but are no longer listed, maybe worth an email.

Who's that Joe? Doesn't seem to be a link in the post unless my phone is playing up?

No it was me sorry lol.
