They do look great in white I must say

welcome to the forums, nice car :) whats the trim level of that in poland? SE with stripes and a few extras?

An S with 185/60-14 on steels lurking under the wheel arches. It has 6J steels but getting ones to miss the calipers is complicated.

Ah, tell us more about your 6" wide steel wheels, what they are exactly and what you had to do to make them clear the calipers, please.

Hi everyone I've just picked up my Citigo elegance 75ps here are some picsPosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

Thank you!
This version is name "Ambition", one from three available now in Poland (Ambition, Elegance and Sport). Elegance and Sport is level up.
Ambition have: 4x air bags, ABS, ESP, Hill Hold Control, A/C, radio MP3, power windows, etc. I bought additionally: electric and heated door mirrors, sunset glass.
Stripes and the roof in colour black, it is my idea, done by me.

Sorry my english is not perfect.

sunset glass and the stripes add towards the sport spec though ;) looks good

Right, the first ones I tried were Golf Mk3 part no 1H0 601025P. ET45. They cleared the caliper with a 3mm spacer but the balancing weight hit the track rod end on full lock so on to the next one. The next ones were Seat Cordoba/polo estate part no 6K9 601027 ET 38. These should have cracked it as the ET was better but the dishing of the wheel meant it fouled the caliper. Put the 3mm spacers on and got a couple of mm clearance so I've two of the latter on the front and the Golf ones on the back. Handles a treat. Backs are not a problem.

The Citigo has very dished wheels as the calipers sit a lot further out than most VW group. I can't quite understand why they didn't fit 5 stud hubs and use current wheels of another VW/Skoda/Seat. Would have saved me money as I have a load of Fabia 6Js in the garage. As far as I can tell the Citigo/Up/Mii wheels are a one off. They are not the same as Fox/Arosa/Lupo even though they are 4 stud.

I was not keen on using spacers bigger than 3 mm. It is possible that Golf/Jetta Mk2 6J wheels are a fit without spacers but they are not easy to find now.

Thank you for the explanation Peter.  It all sounds fairly complicated, not for the faint-hearted and only for those willing to put in the effort to achieve a good result.  Why didn't you go to 15" steel wheels or would that not have helped even if there were some possibilities with 4 hole ones from VAG?  Possibly you didn't want to buy a new set of tyres on top of everything else?

I had a full set of 185/60-14s in the garage and I'm not a fan of lower profile tyres as the ride is compromised the lower you go and I don't like the look. it is very possible that there would be the same clearance issues with the 15s as well.

Not to mention a new set of 15" hub caps/wheel covers!

Just as an aside, a guy on another forum fitted ET43, 14" x 6" wide alloy wheels (of an unspecified make) made for a VW Polo (of unspecified year) and found that they cleared the calipers albeit with only a couple of millimetres to spare.  These were fitted to a VW up! which is obviously exactly the same as the Citigo.  Not sure if he checked it on full lock though.

He has probably got away with it as the balance weights are stuck on the inside not fitted to the edge of the wheel. I asked about doing this with the steels but the fitter, who I trust, said he couldn't guarantee they would stay on.

i'd add a pic but i cant figure out how to!
